That's like saying a person who opposes murder is a murderphobic, or a person who opposes anything else is phobic.

So, why call it homophobic.. that implies we're afraid of homosexuals!!

Well, they have to try and discredit us somehow.

So making us look like loons afraid of our shadow - of something 'different' works for them.

In fact, a lot of people are uncomfortable speaking about their views about homosexuality in front of others. Many are afraid that if they say that it is wrong, they will be laughed, mocked and even hurt by those around them. They don't want to be called ignorant etc so they go along with it, regardless of what they think.

It is a ploy that is sadly working, and also sadly silencing people's freedom to speak out about what they thing right and wrong should be.

Why should it matter whether I condone you behavior? Why is it so important to homosexuals that we all agree that its natural?

Are they so starved for acceptance that they have to pressure the world into agreeing with them by claiming that over half of the world is in fear of them?

Well, because that is something that the homosexual community has placed on Christians to try to make it a hate crime to say God hates homosexuality.
What the Christians do sometimes is hate the person when God tells us to hate the sin. As a Christian, and by that I mean someone who follows Jesus Christ, we try to help them out of the lifestyle. They are convicted by the truth, and whether they admit it openly or not, they know what they are doing is wrong.
I will probably get a lot of flack for that last comment, but before you send your "nasty grams"to me, ask yourself truthfully whether what I said is true or not. I don't hate or fear homosexuals, but I do lament for your souls if you die in your sins.
I don't want any of what I said to be considered hate speech, which is the reason we are labled homophobes. I walk in the promise that God said, "FEAR NOT FOR I AM WITH THEE".
I also believe that if you are not walking with the Lord, then being a muderphobic isn't a bad thing.

You are correct. This is part of the culture that demonizes anyone who fails to live up to political correctness. Calling you a homophobe is supposed to intimidate you into keeping your mouth shut.

I am certainly not afraid of homosexuals, and I don't hate them. I am opposed to homosexuality, just as I am opposed to the use of illegal drugs. I am not in a positions to judge either homosexuals, not drug users, but I have no problem expressing the fact that both activities are wrong.

By the way, people who like, or participate in homosexual activity can be called homophiles.

If someone believes God when he says homosexuality is a sin, then why should anyone try to make them think it is not a sin?

It does not mean they fear or even hate homosexuals, but they must avoid sin themselves. Why would anyone want try to tempt them to violate their own beliefs?

Some may be appalled by sin, so they avoid those who commit it. The faith of some is weaker than others, so they protect themselves.

The same goes for adultery, fornication, thievery, murder, covetousness, etc.

Many Christians have a strong enough faith to associate with every kind of sinner. Regardless, Christians operate out of love for God and their fellow human being.

I think the term was invented to try to shame those who know homosexuality to be a sin into accepting it. Since there are far fewer people on the earth committing this sin than say adultery or other more popular sins, the homosexuals tend to be more easily dismissed, making it necessary for them to resort to the name-calling to get noticed.

I wish them no harm and wish God's greatest blessings for them. I also pray for them to repent.

A phobia always has and always will mean a "fear of." It has never meant an "aversion to."

Good question.

Several here have said that people who oppose homosexual behavior are "mean" and "hateful". I am not mean or hateful to any homosexual. I am pleasant when I speak with them but completely disagree with the lifestyle. I do not believe anyone is born that way so it is a choice; one that I do not agree with. So should I call all of you that disagree with the Christian lifestyle mean and hateful and possibly even Christianphobic now? Why is it that we can't just disagree and leave it at that?? Why the name calling??

People who oppose homosexuality, for the most part, ARE afraid. Maybe they're not afraid of homosexuals like other people with phobias are afraid of spiders or heights, but they still have irrational fears. They have an irrational fear that allowing homosexuals to marry will somehow ruin marriage forever. They have an irrational fear that homosexuals have this agenda to make everyone gay. They have an irrational fear that gay marriage is somehow a threat to this country. They have an irrational fear that homosexual marriage will lead to people wanting to marry their sister or pet. Many times they even have this irrational fear that every single homosexual they meet will want to try to get them into a gay relationship. (Don't tell me that people don't feel that way; how many times have you heard someone say "ok, fine, be gay, but just don't put your gayness on me". How exactly does someone go about "putting your gayness" on someone else?)

People who oppose homosexuals might not fear homosexuals themselves, but in the vast majority of cases they DO fear something -- and it's usually something that makes no sense.

alotta is right. we are all homos in a way! :D so opposing them is like opposing humanity because everyone has a human right to live his life how he wants to as long as he/she is not hurting anyone. murder is different because it is hurting people. and maybe people opposing homosexuality do not fear it in the same sense but people saying it imply an intolerance of homosexuals more than a fear

It's just a word homosexual came up with to use for anyone who opposes them, I'm not afraid of them but I believe homosexuality is a perversion, it is deviant behavior, they want to label me homophobe because they want to force everyone into accepting their lifestyle choice.

No, those that anti-homosexuality are called homophobics. Those opposed homosexuality acts are called Catholics and those who condones are called Protestants!

Youre going to hear arguments undoubtedly about how we protest, holding up signs saying "GOD HATES FAGS", about how we're trying to deny them rights, and keep them out of our institutions like marriage, and how deep down we all really hate them and fear them.

Immorality is a threat to all believers. It threatens to give evil in this world a greater political foothold and further their anti-Christ agenda which includes the persecution of believers and destruction of the church.

It threatens to strip future generations of their integrity. (and we all want our children to be better than us and improve) So it represents a grave threat to our childrens society as well as their eternity.

One of the biggest consequences we see as well is when a society reaches a certain measure of evil and immorality, God ensures their destruction. And I dont know about you but I like America, having a good job, religious freedom, and virtually unlimited opportunities.

So are we all homophobes? No. Are some? Yes. Who do we fear more, homos or God? God.
