A ship is the heavier vehicle...A 747-400 when fully loaded with cargo and fuel will easily weigh a million pounds. A power brake take off using every inch of the runway is normal. the flow of air against the wing keeps the plane up. Changing the angle of the flaps, slats, and ailerons causes lift and dissension. The larger the plane, the more durable these wing parts. I installed these on the Air Force C-17 for years.

If you've ever seen those cargo container ships you'd realize that a ship can be significantly heavier. And as someone else said, physics and engineering is what keeps them from sinking and falling. Here's something else most people don't know...most legally and fully loaded trucks in the US weigh 80,000 lbs., that's 40 tons, and cars usually weigh about 1-2 tons. In other words, don't cut them off, they'll crush you like a bug!

Ships like planes come in many different sizes. Aircraft are bult to be light, while ships are built to be more heavy duty, since they have to tend with the debris in the water, and heaby seas.
The ship stays afloat by displacing more weight in water than the ship weighs. For example if a ship will displace 12lbs of water, and it only weighs 10 pounds then it will float. Ifit displaces 9lbs of water, then it will sink.

Depends on the ship or the plane.
My guess...I'll bet an Aircraft Carrier is heavier than a 747.

Firstly lets assume you are a kid, rather than an adult and wouldn't know, and secondly, good on the people that answered the question based on it's merits...
Generally a ship will be heavier than most aircraft...
Try these for the answers on how they work exactly, with a few diagrams:

Well, am I heavier than you? We can't calculate unless we know each others weight. An ultralight to a cruse ship? A jet-ski to a 747? It depends on the specific kinds.
