She probably hears something outside. Dogs have very sharp hearing, it could just be another animal. In the spring if you have a window open they can smell other animals. She is just being protective. Females are more protective than males. Keep your doors locked, and windows at night on the first floor. I don't mean to scare you but I believe the dogs are just being watch dogs. Its in there blood. Pat her and praise her for watching over you. It may be a new noise that she will eventually get used to. Good luck

She May Be Dreaming And Waking Up From Her Dreams And Still Be Barking In Something In The Dreams. Also, Dogs Have Really Good Ears For Hearing Faint Sounds. She May Be Hearing Noises You Can't Hear.

My dog would bark randomly and I didn't know why, but my vet checked him and said he had fleas and when the fleas would bite he would bark for what we thought was no reason. I was putting flea treatments on him too, but I guess a few got in anyway. We dipped him and keep him treated and he doesn't bark out for no reason anymore. I hope this helps....oh and yes, dogs have dreams....but if your dog does it while awake it fleas could be the culprit.

To you it may seem like she is barking randomly, but dogs can hear many things we can't. There is a reason she is barking - you just don't know what it is.

Animals are said to be very sensitive to sensory stimuli imperceptible to humans. Perhaps your dog senses the presence of ethereal beings whom you cannot hear or see. Have you researched your home's history to see whether any bizarre events have occurred there in the past? For example, have any axe murders ever occurred there? What about the land the house was built upon? Have you seen any spectral visions of Indians rising from the ground and raising their fists in condemnation of the violation of their ancestral burial grounds? No? Well, perhaps your dog has, and is reacting to their presence.

Have your vet take a look at the dog. If he pronounces him or her to have no problems, then why worry about it? Unless your dog's behavior has become a serious disturbance to you or members of your family or is a manifestation of serious physical or psychological problems your dog may be experiencing, I would simply accept it as a part of your dog's personality. People are unique and have their own little idiosyncrasies. So do many animals.

( would never actually do that ) but dam, she gives no warning, dead silent, then a sharp bark. ive learned the hard way not to hold a glass of any thing in my hand when she is in the room.

Bad dreams? Maybe there was a bad guy at the door in her dream, and she thought there was one in real life, and started barking to scare the imaginary guy away? Or it could be a ghost. I know it sounds stupid, but dogs see, hear, and smell alot of things that we don't they could see something pretty freaky.

there is always a reason a dog barks. its just hard to
figure out sometimes. maybe she needs to go out to
do her business or maybe something is hurting her
and she wakes up in pain. try taking her to the vet to
make sure nothing is wrong is she is OK then maybe
she wants to sleep with you. let her come in your bed
and snuggle with her and you will both sleep great.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?R3G5

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.
