For primary references read Genesis 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, and 1 Timothy 2:9-15. Pray to the Lord before and after studying for comprehension of his word and he will reveal to you his true and only correct interpretation of these scriptures. The Holy Spirit shall give you understanding and the serenity to accept and submit to his divine will for you as an obedient and holy woman of God.

You have had many answers to this question from both sides.
I believe that as some said Paul was speaking to the women that were disrupting church. I will give you several reasons why I believe so.
Historic records indicate Josephus concur with this.I cite this for outside the bible reference.
From the bible...which is more important to me.
There were many women who taught and spoke in the bible. In the New Test.
Lydia who was the seller of purple in Acts, was a business woman and leader and preacher in the church
Mary, as some have written you was told to spread the good news to the men, including Jesus' discipiles.
Prisilla, who worked side by side with her husband Aquilla.
On a different note, Annais and Sapphira, who was judged separatly in Acts... She was asked to speak the truth and judged accordingly to her own merit. Not her husbands. If women weren't of value why did her words matter?
Also there is the scripture in Acts about your men servants and maidservants being called to prophecy i.e. to preach.
I also think that if women were called to be silent in church, they wouldn't have been allowed to pray, or sing, or teach anyone... silent is silent.
Lastly, I think of the scripture that says where two or more are gathered, I (Jesus) am there with you.
When two Christians gather and talk about the Lord, THAT is church! NOT a building, not a tent, not a tabernacle... For we are the tent and the tabernacle which rests the word.. We are the holders of the spirit of God... Out of the belly the river of living water flows..
and Gal. 3,22 for there is no greek, no jew, no slave, no free, no male, no female, we are one in Christ Jesus!
be blessed in Christ!
edit ~ LXV... I am sorry that I accidently gave you a thumbs down. It was quite a mistake, as you speak truth. Sorry, vicki

Paul was talking to the women in the Corinthian church. He doesn't repeat himself therefore it is a description of what happened not a pattern for us to follow. People are always taking that out of context....God used many women as preachers, teachers, Judges (Deborah) and even a Queen (Esther).....There is no place else where it says for women to be silent...In the Corinthian church the men and women sat on separate sides and if the women didn't understand they would yell the question to their husband...that's what the verse is referring to.

This was a letter that Paul wrote to a specific church that was having a specific problem.
In Jewish tradition (back in the day) women were not allowed to study the Torah the way the men were. One of the nifty new things about the early Christian church was the inclusion of women like they had never been before. The problem this raised in Ephesus was that women who had received no training in the Torah were standing up and giving opinions when they needed to be sitting and learning. Paul meant for the women of this church was that they needed to recieve teaching, not give it. I doubt he thought he was setting doctrine for millennia to come.
Now let me add another thought on top of this. The first people to see the empty tomb were women. They were the first people who got to spread the message of the gospel.
Pretty neat huh?
EDIT:
Awww, thanks 2ndchapteracts. You're so sweet.

The Bible does not say that girls persons are to be silent in church. it fairly is one verse taken out of the 4 financial disaster message wherein that's found. (a million Corinthians 12-15) I basically chalk that up as between the failings interior the Bible you adult adult males elect to forget approximately approximately. that's a message approximately disruption in church. The verse to which you refer replaced into an occasion of what replaced into going on interior the church at Corinth at that factor. It replaced into in no way given as a frequently used proscription of habit. lady preachers are no longer point out everywhere interior the 4 chapters (which contain the verse which you cite). There are examples of lady leaders and prophets interior the Bible. you're able to desire to study issues in context to get on the certainty. in case you forget approximately approximately context, your individual very own bias will lead you to prejudiced bigotry. it fairly is why that's significant seek for the which ability interior the Bible instead of basically parroting what persons have advised you it says.

It was the "Apostle" Paul who said that women were to be silent in Church, and also that they are to cover their heads so as not to tempt the angels.
As for Grendel's claim that the teaching about women being silent in church coming from the Jews. I have one answer for that: WRONG! Please see paragraph above.
Also, to Grendel's advice to never let yourself be influenced by the Jews, does that also include Jesus? I mean, how can you be a Christian and not let yourself be influenced by Jews? Grendel does know that the Biblical deity is the god of the JEWS, and also that Jesus himself was a Jew, right?
Some people REALLY ARE idiots!
Oh yeah, did I mention that the Bible is a JEWISH book? It is, you know...

Paul was writing to a specific congregation, not as the final authority for all times. The congregation consisted of new Christians. Women were asking their "educated" husbands to explain things. It was disruptive. Paul hushed an issue, but didn't set a gender fence for Good News.

Anyone who is a true Christian, baptised in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, is an ordained minister of God, ordained by God. My wife is a minister as I am, but she and other women of our faith do not teach in the congregation as outlined in God's word. They do conduct home Bible studies, have parts in the Theocratic Ministry School, and answer during the Watchtower Meeting. Our children also participate in the Theocratic Ministry School and answer during the Watchtower Meeting in keeping with God's word that says not to forsake the gathering of yourselves together and excite one another to love and fine works. Our children answering at Watchtower Meeting and at book studies encourages others to participate and everybody learns better this way.

Women couldn't preach in church because they were never allowed to go to school, or go to church until Paul changed that, knowing that, a women could not preach until she went to school first (she could not teach of, what she did not know about). "Women...God's secret weapon" by Ed Silvoso. Men today take that scripture literally when they have been to theology class and know why the scripture why/what the scripture meant (for that timeline) and still insist that women don't preach in church, when we are educated and have gone to college.

According to the Bible, Men and Women have different roles.
The Man can be a Preacher.
The Woman can be a Prophet or a Teacher.
