no way. I might hurt the cat. You have to ask the vet if it is OK. They might get sick or something like that.

Why would you want to cut a cat's whiskers? I think they're one of the most beautiful things about a cat. Their whiskers are very sensitive, so it would be mean to cut them.

Cutting a cat's whiskers is not going to hurt your cat. However, they use their whiskers for a lot of important things, so I would not reccomend it. They need their whiskers to sense when things are coming too close to them, when things are too hot or too cold to mess with, and when they are outside, they use it to detect wind currents. Cutting whiskers may be alright if you have a very cautious, indoor cat, but don't do it if your cat is curious at all, or an outdoor cat. Lastly, the 'they use them to see if they fit' story is a myth.

No. There would no legitimate reason to do so.

I don't know if cutting a cat's whiskers will affect its balance, but it will affect its self-confidence. Mother cats will sometimes bite their kittens' whiskers off when they are 6 or 8 weeks old to discourage them from wandering off when they are too young to be on their own.

NO, cats use their whiskers for sensory. A cat's whiskers are as long as the widest part of their body, so they can guage if they will fit into a tight space. Each whisker has it's own nerve receptor in the brain. Cats rely on their whiskers to take in their enviroment as much as we use our finger tips or eyes.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Cat's whiskers are part of the way they experience the world! It would be like taking away your sight or sense of touch.

WHY would you ever want to? A cat's whiskers are part of what makes him a cat! They are gorgeous!

The whiskers will grow back but they shouldn't ever be cut!

Hey...

No its not OK... It is how they feel things when they are walking around in the dark (some ppl say cats see in the dark but its just the whiskas helping them) It will affect their balance also and there are some more serious side effects which I cant think of right now.

There is really no reason to cut them anyway, if you already have cut them, Id go ask a vet for advice... but i'm sure they will grow back. It does affect their senses though and cats rely heavily on these for almost everything.

Be good to ur kitty :)

No. Cats use their whiskers to get oriented in their environment. In fact, a very overweight cat, whose sides bulge farther than the span of her whiskers, will have a hard time judging the dimensions of passages and pathways.

whiskers are used by cats to tell if they can fit into a space, if their whiskers are cut then the cat can wouldn't be able to tell if the space is too small for it to fit in.

NO!!! I will make them loose balance. They also use their whiskers to like measure small spaces to make sure that they can fit through them. Whatever you do, do not cut the whiskers!!

NO. When I was three, I cut my cat's whiskers off, and they never grew back. They depend on them for so many things, don't do it.
