I watched my older sister going to prom and i want to make sure i get to do the same. What are my options while still being homeschooled? Does any one else have the same question as me?

plz no haters or rude comments, public school is just dandy but this is my best option so plz dont say go to public school
thanks so much every1

Find a local support group. You can do your search on the internet. We live in a rural area but yet there are about 3 proms among the local home school communities.
I went to public school and went to the prom and hopefully your home school prom will be fun. Mine was a disappointment. Don't worry, after 30 some years, I've recovered. (smile)

Hey! Good for you... keep on keepin' on!

I just finished homeschooling all 12 years... so I know *exactly* what you're talking about!!

There's PLENTY to do in highschool while you're homeschooling! First of all: prom. Pretty much every big city in the U.S. has a homeschool prom... I know in Dallas (and where I live 2 hours away) is the big homeschool prom they have in a fancy hotel downtown. So it's no "homeschooled" event, if ya know what I mean! Also, groups have formal highschool banquets and whatnot, so there plenty of chances to dress up! A ton of groups have teen nights as well.... I know my group here had things like a progessive dinner and a scavenger hunt around town. Absolutely make sure that you join a homeschool support group! The friends you make there will be priceless, as well as an encouragement for you to keep on going!

And don't worry about graduation, yours can be just as nice, if not nicer than any ol' graduation you can have anywhere else! (and customized too!) I'm graduating next Saturday with my homeschool group (all 5 of us seniors) and we got to choose our gown color, decorations, music and the whole nine yards!

Hope this helped!

I am a homeschooled 9th grader too! You could go to the public school prom with a friend.

I went to a homeschool prom and that was alot of fun! If you have alot of homeschooled friends you could organize your own prom!

I've heard of homeschool proms. You can probably find out about them through a homeschool group. So, if you're not already involved in one, I would recomend that. They will most likely have information about a homeschool prom and other homeschool events. Some even have homeschool graduations.

One option is to be invited by friends that may be going to school.

The other option is to look for a local home school group;
ours organizes a prom each year for all home schooled students grades 9 and up; the parents prepare the formal dinner, and chaperone the after dinner activities.

The young people have a blast, and look forward to it each spring.
If your local group does not have one, offer to get some teens, and adults together and organize one.
You will learn some great skills along the way.

Check with local homeschooling support groups--even if they aren't that local (meaning, you might have to go to another town or city or something, but not that far). Ideally you'd have a lot of connections with this group so that when you have a prom, you'll actually know the people you'll be with.

I think there are social network groups for homeschool students that do things like that, but I'm not sure. I know there are many homeschool social groups with programs for younger kids, offering classes and activities. I would ask around.

I don't think there is anyway, except by getting asked by a boy who is in highschool to his prom.
