Me and my good friend (a girl whom I have feelings for) have been friends for a bit now. When I first met her, she had a boyfriend and she said she didn't like to talk about her personal life too much. The closer of friends we became, the more she opened up to me. When she presented a problem, I would always give her my best advice and she seemed really happy after. Recently she broke up with her boyfriend and admitted she had feelings for me. I never told her I had feelings for her, but she knows I do. We used to talk about anything, one subject to the next, but after telling me she has feelings for me, our conversations have been really awkward. There will be a lot of awkward silences and either of us wont have anything to say. Does she feel weird around me, or does this normally happen?

Yes, and yes. She feels weird, you feel weird, and this happens all the time. Escalating from platonic friendship to something more intense can frequently feel awkward and weird.

What jumped out at me was your breezy assurance that she can read your mind and "knows" you have feelings for her. You haven't given any evidence that she's a mind reader. And it's certainly possible that whatever signals you're sending that you're so confident about are being misinterpreted or are confusing her. If you are wrong and she doesn't know how you feel, then she's in the awkward position of having exposed her feelings and waiting around for some kind of revelation from you. That certainly can lead to awkward silences.

it's completely normal. but why don't you just ask her out? maybe it's awkard because she wants you to make a move.

my suggestion.. on 3.. you go get some flowers, run to her doorstep, and ask her out...

1...2...3!!! GO!!!

goodluck.
