I have a colon twice the normal lenght of an average size colon. I will have one half of my colon removed by surgery. Will I lose weight and if so will I gain it back?

It depends on whether your absorption is affected by the surgery. If food passes through your bowel more quickly, and this condition is permanent, there is a good chance that you will lose weight and keep it off. However, there may be other problems too. You could develop chronic diarrhea, or irritable bowel. These conditions are life altering and not pleasant. Make sure you understand the ramifications of the surgery and what you can expect post surgically. Good luck.

yes a lot. I had an ex boyfriend who had about 3 surgeries and he lost a lot of weight GOOD LUCK :-)

Don t skip breakfast and choose that s high in protein for energy and full of fiber to keep you satisfied for hours

never eat any snack food out of the box carton or bag it came in you re less likely to overeat if you separate snacks into appropriate fist sized servings

Most likely you will because food will not be in the digestive track as long and will not be absorbed in the body
