colon surgery, will I lose weight.?

I have a colon twice the normal lenght of an average size colon. I will have one half of my colon removed by surgery. Will I lose weight and if so will I gain it back?

It depends on whether your absorption is affected by the surgery. If food passes through your bowel more quickly, and this condition is permanent, there is a good chance that you will lose weight and keep it off. However, there may be other problems too. You could develop chronic diarrhea, or irritable bowel. These conditions are life altering and not pleasant.
