Common sense tells me that if an atheist comes on here and degrades belief in God, that is anti theist. Your'e on a site that your only way to be a part of this is to be antitheist. of course I'm wrong again.

There is a subtle difference. Some atheists are anti-theists, but not all are. Anti-theist means somebody who is adversarial and/or out to get religion. An atheist merely means somebody who doesn't believe in God, but may not have a problem with those who do have religious beliefs.

Only if you want to sound ignorant. A person can be an atheist and also be an anti theist. However an atheist isn't necessarily an anti theist. They're two different things. It's like saying that all Asians are Chinese because some Asians are Chinese.

No, not the same thing. I'm an atheist and also an anti-theist, but that doesn't apply to all atheists.

Atheist = one who has no belief in a god or gods

Anti-theist = one who is against religion

Well as a theist, I would say no,because anti would imply (against).. An atheist is one who believes in no gods.

No (a) means without, as in without God, ATHEIST. (anti) means against, so that would be anti-theist, against God. Not the same thing.

No
Atheist means does not believe in God
Anti Theist means against those who believe in God.

Most of the atheist's I know are kind loving people who can calmly and rationally explain their unbelief, and warm and wecome to theists who mind their own business.

No, it is not ok unless you are a christian who believes that anything that is not for your god must be against your god. Some christians believe that if you're not a servant of god, you must be a servant of satan.

Atheists have no religion, they do not believe in any god(s). Atheists can be, but don't have to be against religion. But if you choose to view them as anti-theists, and treat them with that view, I am sure you will be satisfied with your self-fulfilling prophecy.

No. Whether you're theistic, atheistic, polytheistic or whatever, it is your right to follow your heart and mind and seek happiness. But being anti theistic is placing yourself in opposition to someone else's equal right to pursue happiness and avoid suffering. Whatever your spiritual beliefs, you can be kind and compassionate toward others. We are all humans. There is no need to be anti-human.

It's not the same thing but you'd never know it from all the anti-theists around this place.
