If homosexual acts are genetically determined, then logic dictates murder, generosity, love, theft, and of course violence is all a genetic excuse...eh, I mean cause.

I believe that some people can be born with a tendency towards violence or anger. For example someone may have a psychotic disorder that makes them violent. However, I believe people are more a product of their environment.

No, I do not believe someone can be born with a tendency towards violence and anger. I believe it is learned from ones environment.

Answerers seem to lean towards learned behavior on this one. I don't think it is that clear cut. Enviornment is probably the biggest factor, but I do believe that genetic inclination sets up the situation. The more we (as a species) learn about genetic influence the more we see that many characteristics have a genetic component. There have been studies done on the genetic predisposition for belief in god, sexuality, and many other character traits. I bet there is.
Gets tricky when you start talking about genetic traits and tendancies, because the subject of eugenics makes people uncomfortable quickly.

Yes some people are born with psychological illnesses that give them a predisposition to violence and anger but if you take that number against the general population, the number who are is small.

I agree with Seth. I think our early upbringing along with the enviroment we are raised in influences our behavior all of our lives.
For instance, if it is made clear to a child by word and actions that they are unloved, they will have a difficult time accepting love all of their lives unless something or someone intervenes to help them.
It is a fact that many children who were physically abused, become abusers themselves of their spouses and\or children.
When someone feels hurt and they have never been taught how to constructively deal with it, they will either turn the hurt inwards which leads to depression and illness, or they will turn it outwards which leads to violence. Both situations can be helped if the person is willing to learn and change.

Unfortunately, yes. Each of us has been given a unique personality by God. It is affected by our heredity and environment. I think that negative traits such as violence are a result of inbreeding at some point in a person's genetic history.

No. While all people will feel angry at times, how they react is a learned behavior. You will notice that children who act out in very violent ways (yelling, throwing, hitting, etc.) often have a parent or other "role model" they learned the behavior from.

Yes. Why is there sometimes one person in a family that is angry and confrontational while everyone else is happy and easy going?
