I'm working on getting to NH for a mission trip. I have seen a number of ppl in front of walmart before asking for donations to get them to wherever. Do you think walmart will allow me to sit in their parking lot asking for donations to get to NH for my mission trip?? Just wonderin??

Why not work for the money?

I am persuaded that if you are called by God to foreign missions you should approach you church leadership for ideas. If they feel you are right for the position the church will supply your way and cover the costs. I think you are talking about Home Missions. In such a case you might also want to consult your church elders about funding part of the trip for you. Otherwise the things you mention are good starters. What about doing small chores for your neighbours (especially the older ones) That way you don't only earn you missions funding but those people get help with things they need. I think of Spring yard cleanups and so on. Every home owner does it but some are not healthy enough to do it themselves. since it is open to everyone in the church seems to get me thinking that the church would be more apt to help. However from small towns come small churches and the wherewithal to SUPPORT may not be there. How much time do you have before leaving? Cleaning out eves troughs, shovelling walks, I am not familiar with your community but I am sure God will open doors if it is His will you go.

Walmart is very willing to help the community. Speak to the store manager, or email the corporate office and they will contact the manager. Usually you must locate in a designated area, and days/hours may be specified. Good Luck.

It would be better if you made a request in writing and sent a letter to Corporate Affairs, asking for the company to contribute to your trip. Inform them of the mission, who it will help, and ask will they send supplies to a particular address prior to your arrival. Let them know how exciting this opportunity can be and how you would like to share your experiences when you return.

Dear misscoun,

Most places have policies against soliciting. However, i know several summers ago- Wal Mart allowed my church to hold a car-wash (we used the funds to support World Vision- who provides education and resources for starving children).

i would also suggest sending out prayer letters, and perhaps if there are other teammates you guys can do a group fundraiser like a car-wash or bake sale or something.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

If you have to ask for money to finance your mission trip- you should not be going. I see people doing this all the time. It is wrong to ask people outside your own church for money.
Thats like saying.." God wants me to go to NH, but he can not afford to send me-will you help God, he is so poor".
This is wrong-don't do it.

the church is there to help the community, not to beg of it. if you were a non christian and saw someone begging for money for a mission trip that would make you think that they want you to become a christian so they could have your money. God says that he will take care of anyone trying to do his will. dont worry about how your going to get the money. simply focus on God and pray to him about how to get it. if it is in his will that you get the money from there ... you will.
God bless hope this helps ~amanda~

It is up to the store manager. Ask him or her.

Generally they allow it as long as you are not bothering their customers. One complaint and they usually will ask you to leave. So don't be a pain in the a** about it.

Ask the store manager, I believe the decision is up to him/her. I can't see any reason to deny you, since you're not trying to make a profit or compete with Wal-Mart.

Get documentation of what you plan to do, including proof of non-profit status.

Call you local Wal-mart and make appointment with manager.

Make your pitch.

I would not give you money to erase a person's culture and put in something as ficticious as LOTR. I hope walmart agrees.
