I speak in tongues, but I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 3 Persons, One God.
Please read the Bible with an open mind and ask God to teach you.

I don't understand the concept of speaking in tongues. It makes no sense. If it is supposedly the Holy Spirit speaking through you, then why not use a language the people will understand? Otherwise, what's the point? And how exactly does it bring you any closer to God? I was raised in a Christian church and I never remember hearing anything about speaking in tongues, much less actually seeing anyone do it.

whilst a guy baptizes yet somebody else, it is needed that the baptism is run in the call of Jesus and not in the titles "Father," "Son," and "Holy Ghost." Doing so recognizes the association of the baptism to Jesus' dying, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3-6, Galatians 3:26-27). the daddy and the Holy Spirit did not die, get buried, then develop from the ineffective. Jesus Christ did. Jesus Christ is the way, the fact, and the existence (John 14:6). To baptize in the titles "Father," "Son," and "Holy Ghost" isn't obeying what Jesus commanded. His words in Matthew 28:19 let us know to baptize in the only call that represents the daddy, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. That call is Jesus. people who call upon the call of the Lord would be saved from the wrath of God to come returned (a million Corinthians a million:12-sixteen, Colossians 3:17, Matthew 28:19, Romans 10:9-13, Acts 4:12), and Jesus is Lord. each and every account of an easily baptism in the hot testomony references the call of Jesus Christ. Baptism utilising the titles started in the early Fourth Century, in 325AD. there is no reference in the Bible of somebody being baptized in the titles "Father," "Son," and "Holy Ghost," yet fairly in the call of "Jesus." the adaptation is substantial to comprehend: God has many titles, yet only the call of Jesus has been given for salvation, and baptism is easily area of salvation (Acts 8:12-sixteen, Acts 2:38-40-one, Acts 4:10-12, Colossians 3:17, Philippians 2:9-11, Acts 8:35-39, Acts sixteen:14, Acts 19:a million-5, a million Corinthians a million:13-sixteen, Acts sixteen:32-34).

Do you speak in tongues with an interpreter? Do you do it to praise God or are you given a message to give to the congregation of your church? I was brought up to believe that God gives us gifts, but when I was a child and heard people speaking in "tongues" I felt weird and confused. I felt what I was hearing was false and for that person to be noticed. I took it literally when I read in the Bible, to go into a closet and pray. (Privately). Please explain what it means to you to have this gift and how it is used. I am being serious. This has always bothered me.

If you know the purpose of speaking in tongues, you know that it was something done back in bible times so that people could preach to those who spoke a different language from them. that's what speaking in tongues means. So, for those who profess to speak in tongues now, what is the purpose of you speaking in tongues?

I never did although I earnestly and fervently prayed constantly for quite a while for this gift ... God must love you more. I only hope you don't babble on during worship and put the focus on yourself as I've seen so many Christian do.

How do you know you do? I thought speaking in tongues was when the spirit moves you, so how would you remember?

If you think you're speaking in tongues, you're halucinating. Speaking in tongue is speaking a foreign language, not gibberish. Speaking in tongue has a real reason, spreading the word to other countries, which is why He gave it to the apostles, to spread the word. God doesn't give us stupid gifts, and gibberish is just ignorant.
