Animal feed from China. Thought we sent them wheat and barley. Just went shopping for furniture.......you guessed it "Made in China" all over the place. Soon we'll all be flipping burgers or handing out carts at Wally World. What was your moment of zen discovery?

Yes. Weapons.

My father was so happy that he found a saw made in AMerica. I think the parts were shipped and reshipped to hide the fact that it was mostly made in foreign countries. THe actuall picture of made in China is not accurate. Yes we ship them wheat, but its cheaper to process wheat into gluten in CHina. In fact CHina is use to making gluten, because their vegetarians eat it as a meat substitute. A lot of stuff siad to be made in China has parts made else where. SOme of it believe it or not comes from the US. CHina outsource their work too. Also I believe a lot of stuff that doesn't say made in CHina is actually made there. Because of quota, China has gotten good in hidng the origin of their finished products.Truth be told, America has profitted in some ways from its relation with China. Its could the double engine. WE design stuff for CHina to manufacture. We actually get the bulk of the profit. An Engineer make more than a factory worker.

Yes there are a few things that are still made in America, but they are becoming fewer. Outsourcing is the way that companies save money because they don't have to pay union wages or pay for health insurance. Living the American dream is becoming more expensive everyday. We all want that big paycheck, the best health insurance and to retire early. You are right, we are going to outsource ourselves into minimum paying jobs with no benefits whatsoever if we don't watch out.

Anything that can be made cheaper there than here will be made there. That would be everything. This leaves us completely vulnerable to China and other countries. When a product is locked in (vitamin C $10.00 now) they will raise the prices sky high. Anybody who doesn't believe that is in denial. Our country is headed for the dumpster.

Actually a lot of things are made in America. Yes most of the typical consumer items are made else where but I work in a factory and many many of the parts and equipment that we have is made in the USA. Guns are made in America to and I would never own a foreign made firearm.

Just for the heck of it, we walked around the house, picking up things and looking on the bottom of them to see where they were from. Pretty depressing that at least 85% of everything had a Made in China stamp on it.
And we wonder where the jobs are?

China is now the dominant manufacturer of goods and it is the reason why the US is now indebted to it. Labor is very expensive in USA unlike in China.
