It is my experience that if you do not believe exactly as any particular sect of Christianity believes then they will tell you that you are not a true Christian. Very judgmental sad to say. I come from an LDS family so I can see your dilemma. Now for a funny (strange) thought. I am no longer LDS I am a witch, and I am far less judgmental towards Christians than Christians are towards other Christians! Go figure!

Here is what the problem is (not judging you or anyone else in their beliefs, just stating my own observations)
As it stands, anyone that believes Jesus existed and was from God can call themselves a Christian- I am not saying this is right or wrong- it is just the way it is. The problem comes in when there are about 500 different thologies that go along with believing in Jesus. A lot of unbelievers today automitically associate Catholicism with anyone that calls themselves Christian, yet many Christians do not believe most of what Catholics believe and do not want ot be associated with their theology. This stands true with many different sects of Christianity.
For the most part, I would say there are a lot of debatable issues, as long as one believes the truth about who Jesus is, then we are still one in Christ and it is up to the Holy Spirit to bring discernment and work out the different theologies.
As far as Mormonism goes, though, their general beliefs about who Jesus is is extremely different and I would go as far as to sa contrary to what most mainstream Christians believe about Jesus and God. Those that believe the the truth , based on scripture, about who Jesus is do not want to be associated in any way with mormonism because the core belief, the heart of what Christianity is supposed to be about is so different- you really cannot claim that the beliefs are even similar. Most Christians do not want their lives and beliefs judged by the ignorant based on what they know and understand about mormon beliefs.

I know how you feel......seriously....a true Christian would do not do this. I think many will be surprised when Christ comes again and instead of hating -yes persecution is hatred- but when he does come again he will not hate and persecute others as often Christians persecute others instead he will teach and lead with love in a way that does not put others down. I look forward to that day, a day when finally persecution will no longer exist.

OK brother!
I'm not judging you at all.
A lot of us believe, however, that Jesus is God.
He was always God, He was not created, and He most certainly was not Lucifer's brother!
Lucifer belonged to the angelic beings, which were created by God as servants.
That's where some would find friction with LDS.
But, as for me, I am thrilled you believe in Jesus...
I pray you would seek Him with all your heart, soul and mind.
Don't let religion, any religion, or group dictate how you should know Jesus for yourself.
Jesus, being God and eternal, by His Holy Spirit, guides us into truth.
So seek for yourself at Jesus' feet. Pray for Him to reveal His true self to you in all His glory. He will always answer such a prayer.
Be prepared, as I was, to go your own way if He chooses to lead you, and know and believe in Him for yourself.
Your salvation doesn't depend on a church. It comes right down to your own personal relationship with Christ, the One Who saves us! I'll pray for you.

By being moved to respond to criticism about the mormon church in YA, you've inadvertently become a supporter and actually sort of a missionary. You're basically saying "I don't want to hear anything bad about the church cause those things are not true, cause I'm a nice guy..." -and that is tantamount to painting a bullseye on your A$s.
Yahoo is full of children like you who want confirmation about the mormon church, yet exclaim shock and dismay when they read things that can't find in their priesthood manual.
However, you're one of the few who has not shouted "persecution!" when faced with countering information. Perhaps you're not familiar with the word or it context, but if you think for a minute the church is immune from criticism, log off and read your Ensign.
Otherwise toughen up and get ready to defend your faith.

PLEASE don't let it get you sad, though....i know it's really really hard to hear people say those mean things, but just try to ignore it and be nice to them. that will drive them crazy ;D
esther and father K, it's okay if you think mormons aren't christians, but why look down on them? that is probably nice guy's whole point! and you have proven it for him.

I'll ask you a question. Does it really matter what they think? Are you happy with what you believe? If so then don't let it get you down. I do get annoyed at the same things in reference to a lot of the bashing that goes on. It's just people and their opinions, their beliefs.

If you believe in Christ, and you believe that you are indeed a Christian, then people should respect that. It's one thing to speculate about someone else's faith, but you're right: it's rude to flat-out tell them what they are/are not. Try not to let it get to you, man.

I am a Judge. My religion holds no commandment dear that suggests "all faiths are equal" or some such drivel. You're a mormon? Good for you! I am a Satanist.
Now you have asked me for my opinion, and I'll give it: God is imaginary. Christians (and mormons _are_ christians) are delusional.
You're welcome to disagree with me, of course, but if you do you're wrong. The sky is blue, zebras have stripes, the earth is very very old, and God is Imaginary. That's it.
Stop sounding so surprised about your lot in life, young one; you have chosen it for yourself.
