Okay so when I am holding her and happen to pet her tail or on her back,
she kinda bends over so her tail is up in the air and she looks like she is starring into
space and makes weird noises. When she does this, I stop petting her because I don't
want her to think I am mating with her, is she trying to mate? How can I stop her from doing this
without being mean? And I thought this because my 10 year old 'too rubs up against his toys and wags
his tails on over everyone, someone said this was mating, so I was just assuming. Thanks.

She actually wants you to mate with HER! It's going to be an activity you'll see during this time of year. Just keep discouraging it and you'll get through it!

Yes, I have an Amazon and she tried this with me and I have to put her on her cage for awhile, and than I hold her again . I was not sure if this is what she was doing, but she continue and I knew she must be in her mating season. She wants me to hold her allot and she nibbles on my hair when she is on my shoulder. She is very moody lately. I thought the problem was because I just took her to get her groomed.

I had a male Cockateil that would swish his tail end over the knuckles of my hand; as soon as he would begin this ritual, I would remove him, and eventually he did stop.
