No "miracle" pills, shakes, etc.I can change my diet some, but honestly completely going vegan and drinking nasty as soy shakes is not what I'm looking for.I have a stressful life at times,I am a college student with three children,no membership to a gym,and I can't afford a fancy Gazelle.I need some ideas for mostly in-home workouts, and things I can do with my children.Any smartass answers will be deleted and get a bad rating.

one tip -miracle stuff dont work-nor does crash diets-they work immediately, and then the starved body will go to eating more than ever.
exercise is a key & bike ridding and walking and swimming are very good. not running on pavement-but running in place at home is fine.
the atkins diet is expensive to your health and dangerous-the honest people i have spoken to, say they become lithargic and if they eat a potato or even a piece of bread they get sick- I know of one man that got sun stroked on Atkins and violently ill -no one else there fishing with him did.
soy is dangerous if you take too much of it-
take a good multiple vitamin or your body will demand you eat more-till it finds what you are missing.
caution on what you eat too-eat slowly- a person doesnt realize they are content for 10 minutes after they reached that point-so good conversation-nothing heavy is good while eating-when we over fill our stomach it streches and will demand to be filled to that point again and again
dont do free eating-its not free -if its all you can eat -dont go there. eat before church and have a good fiber breakfast every day-oatmeal instant doesnt need cooking, corn flakes, i use Matzah too as I am born a Jew-with 2% or powdered milk and no sugar-maybe some hazelnut dry creamer.
dont eat because its time to eat-in the day time-eat when its reasonable-when the kids are there its important they have a set time though-time to time snack on fruit and good stuff while they eat a good meal-for lunch-dont put them on your diet unless overweight and check that one with a doctor-as children will suffer growth problems if missing their needed food.
would you give the ages of your children as there are different routines you can do -but some if they are young wont hold their interest to join with you-
you can do walking in a park-and keep them with you or in eye distance-early or late in the day if its hot out or in the mall if its raining -many open early for walkers and have a sign in book too
in Jesus amazing grace that saved a wretch like me=John 3 repented of sins and got born again with Jesus now my best friend,
prayin for you that progress begins and best for all, David

I've lost over twenty pounds in two months, and over sixty pounds since this time last year, by eating less, eating more chicken, eating almost no beef, and exercising at least three times a week...sometimes three times a day though.... You'll laugh, but I swing on the swingset at the park and I walk around the track at the park or I find a block to walk around a few times. It works.
Edit: Also...this will sound like I'm being sarcastic, but I am being completely serious:
If your stomach is full before the meal is over, do not eat anymore food. Even if there is half a sandwich left or half the green beans and corn or whatever is on the plate...if your stomach is full or a little uncomfortable...then do not continue eating. Serve yourself portions the smaller size you are comfortable eating and do not eat more than you really need to. Eat only when you are hungry and stop when you are not hungry.

You don't say how old your kids are, but are they old enough to go bike riding with you or for a walk? Those would be great exercises for all of you. If you can't go for walks because of the kids, then I would suggest buying some work out tapes and just work out in front of the TV. Keep your heart rate up for about 30 to 40 minutes a day. If you cut back just 500 calories a day, that will add up to 3500 calories a week and that is 1 pound of weight. I know that there are work out tapes made by Disney that would be fun for your kids and you could work out with them also. Anything to get you moving.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

ok, gotta repeat again, atkin's diet is one of the best to loose weight fast & easy but ofcoz, not the healthiest way. try tis diet, high in protein and low in carbs for a few weeks. What i recommend will be to get back to a healthy diet of balanced foods after you've lost some weight. Simple and cheap way ^^
