Yes I sometimes give lavish gifts, but he doesnt always like it. He tells me I have a big heart and he loves me, and likes that I am always thinking of him, but he doesnt necessarily like it that I spend so much money. However, he does the same thing for me and I always tell him the same thing too. We tell each other it is not necessary to spend money to show our love, but we both always answer the same in that it makes us happy to buy things for each other.

Yes, I occasionally do give hubby what seems like expensive gifts to me. In order to surprise him, I give up some things in the budget to pay for it without him knowing.
I have given him a weekend golf trip & my friend did the same for her husband. I have also gotten him concert tickets to take a friend. Guys need a chance to relax without the wife & kids.
I have also saved up for us to take a weekend alone as a couple & do just what he likes to do for fun.

I don't think gifts reflect love. When I give my boyfriend gifts it's because I like to see him happy and I want him to know I'm thinking of him. That's not to say happiness comes from material items, of course.

Gifts don't prove love.....what happens if you don't have the money to buy lavish gifts?
We don't buy each other gifts....we like to take lavish vacations together.......it's more fun.

i gave my b/f expensive gifts (movado watch, ect..) and of course he likes them, but what really makes him happy and actually makes him get emotional is when i make him gifts, because those come from the heart which mean a lot more then money.

I do. My husband works hard so once a year on his birthday I have to get him something that he might feel selfish buying for himself because it's too expensive or something. It's the least I can do for him.
