It seems as if society wants to potray police to be bad people or something. Granted every cop isn't perfect, but should that reflect on every cop. Is that just a small minded individuals way of thinking?

No to second question. Cops have programed people to think that way through decades of power abuse. Every cop is not perfect. Some go to prison for what they have done. If you want a perfect cop look at Serpico. He took on a whole precinct. Yet cops claim only a few bad apples. They never finish that cliche' It's a bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. Also watch "A thin blue lie" they tortured a city block to blame a retarded kid for an arson rather then admit they made a mistake. Other cops knew what they were doing in that room. In my case in 1988 women asked me for help because a cop had raped them. It took me 16 years but I got him sent to prison. The first part of your question. People do not blame the cops for their mistakes. maybe a few do but the majority do not. Cops ruin lives to better their careers and to supply fuel to their power trips. This is my attitude until cops police cops.

My father was a cop when I was growing up. He was one of the good guys (I'm not just saying it because he's my Dad). He really tried to help people, not just punish/arrest them. He was told by the "Force" to "toughen up or get out", so he retired. Unfortunately, the police in some areas are potrayed as that community's military. So some of the people then think of their relationship with the police as "it's us against them". Of course, when they are arrested or charged with a crime, or the cops come to their house for a domestic violence call, it's "those #@!%$ tried to get me........., "I was just minding my own business", etc. It's sad when you think about it. Although there are some bad cops out there, the majority of police do a lot of good, and it's very seldom acknowledged. Without them there would be looting, more violence than we already have, murders, rapes. The list goes on and on!!!

I don't think there really is all that much cop bashing in our society. Granted, there is the occasionally story of a policeman who loses it on someone, but by and large I hear relatively little about how the police are blamed for society.

Immaturity. It's much easier to blame someone else for a mistake than admit your own mistakes.

I can't blame cops for becoming cynical, or angry with society or whatever. I mean the truth is, police deal with people when they are at their worst.--So no, not every cop is perfect but I can't blame the ones that aren't, nor can I say I'd be perfect If I was a cop.

everyone has prejudices but when cops draw it out, its an authority figure that is displaying it. The image of a policeman is supposed to be representative of justice. That is probably why people are quick to draw attention to any ironies between action and representation.

You are correct - one cops mistake shouldnt represent all others. This applies to many situations...just because one asian went on a killing spree, that doesnt mean all asian immigrants are bad. Just because one conservative or liberal is illogical, arrogant or incapable of being swayed, doesnt make all of them bad.

Yeah, I know! I was just thinking about that the other day, how if someone got pulled over for speeding, the first thing they'd probably say to themselves before smiling at the police officer would be a curse at the police for catching them, not a curse at themselves for their being so speedy.

I prefer to blame the lawmakers and judges that uphold the stupid laws that the lawmakers enacted. Judges are quick to dish out lengthy jail sentences having never served a day in their lives. The should have to experience it in order to sentence people to it. Just as cops/corrections officers have to endure a tazer in order to use one. That's fair isn't it?

im the guy that posted about the moorhead mn situation and let me explain something.if weapons were involved i could totally see it.it was a 3 on 3 fight.not a robbery.not a jack.not a rape.not a car thief.
my only real point was that if a fair fistfight passes for criminal activity in this country,we may as well pack our bags and move to syria.well have more freedoms there.
there are real crimes going on out there and it angers me to know that the police are using our tax dollars to go after crap like this

It is easier for people to blame others for their downfalls because they do not have to be disappointed in themselves that way.
People make choices not mistakes, so holding one accountable should be fine.

Only "certain" people blame the police. I cannot get anymore specific than that because I don't want to offend and have the same "certain" people start blaming me too.
