My son accidently flushed a toy car, about three and a half inches long, and bigger than Hot Wheels cars, down the toilet. I don't want to have the car back, it's just that we live in an apartment complex and I'm afraid it will cause problems in the piping. The toilet didn't overflow or anything when it happened, and it's been flushed since, but could it still come back to haunt us in the next few days, or should I assume it's okay since it hasn't caused plumbing problems yet?

There's no way you can reach it without removing the toilet. If it hasn't caused any backup in your apartment, it has probably moved on down the line. There's no way of knowing where it is until something backs up. It still could cause plumbing problems, but they will probably show up in somebody else's apartment. If it doesn't clog up the pipes within a few days, it is gone. If it does, the landlord will have to get a plumber. Don't worry about it. That's what landlords and plumbers are for. It' s not likely they will fish it out and trace it back to you.

When you flush the toilet, call the driver on his cell phone and tell him to put the car in drive and accelerate slowly, he should be able to drive it right through the trap and on out to the ocean where you will find him drinking a pina colada and getting a tan.

This happens quite often to us. My kids are always throwing things in the toilet. If there doesn't seem to be a problem, then leave it alone. If your toilet starts acting up then take it apart and get the toy out.

I would call a plumber and ask, you want to be sure that it won't cause a problem later on.
