Saturnalia is the feast at which the Romans commemorated the dedication of the temple of the god Saturn, which took place on 17 December. Over the years, it expanded to a whole week, up to 23 December.
Christians in the fourth century assigned December 25th (the Winter Solstice on the Julian calendar) as Christ's birthday (and thus Christmas) because pagans already observed this day as a holiday. This theory is much disputed, as the dates of Saturnalia are not coincident with Christmas. A more refined argument is that Christmas was set on the feast of Sol Invictus, which was on December 25, and which had supplanted Saturnalia. However, others claim that early Christians independently came up with the date of December 25th based on a Jewish tradition of the "integral age" of the Jewish prophets (the idea that the prophets of Israel died on the same dates as their birth or conception), and a miscalculation of the date of Jesus' death. A theory has been advanced that the establishment of the feast of Sol Invictus on December 25 was an attempt by Aurelian to co-opt the day already celebrated by Christians for a pagan festival.

I don't think Jesus ruined Christmas I think that Christianity invented Christmas. Its not his true birthday at all. Look at it this way when the good Christians were trying to convert and force their will on the pagans who had their own belief system that served them very well and just think of all the Holy Wars torture and burning at the stake that was done in the name of Christianity does anybody realy think that Christ wanted that to happen. NO I DONT THINK SO its all down to the bully boys again. Now look at all the Pagan festivals and how the good Christians have taged their newly invented ones onto them.
1. Pagan Yule the winter solstice the rebirth of the Sun God. When the sun starts to rise again and the days lengthen.
Christian. The birth of Jesus.
2. Pagan. Imbolg 2nd Feb. Festival of Bridgit. The Goddess as maiden wears a crown of light (candles).
Christian. Candlemas Do they not have some celebration for youg girls when they are given candles to carry and does the Queen herself not take her Xmas cards down then.
3. Pagan Oestara 21 March Spring Equinox symbols for the Goddess are the Hare and egg.
Christian. Easter. All Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs
4. Pagan. Beltane 1st. May. This is a fire and fertility festival.
Christians. May Day public holiday and dancing round the Maypole. Its not hard to see the fertility symbol in the Maypole.
5. Madron. 21st. September. Autum Equinox and the gatering in the harvest. Giving thanks to their Gods for the harvest.
Christian. Harvest Thanks giving.
Remember the pagans and all of their belief systems were around many centuries before the birth of Christ and in trying to convert the pagans it was easier to invent there fersivals and tag them onto the pagan ones telling them it was the same thing but only another name.

Dear Santa, All those nice letters to the children was a wonderful idea, but now I think you have spoiled the world with all of those toy presents. Get out of the way now and allow the real spirit of Christmas emerge.

I love Christmas. I love that God loved us enough to send His only begotten son.I love reading the first chapters of Matthew and Luke then.I also love Santa Claus and all the frivolity that goes with it.The two are not mutually exclusive except by the Legalists.
Break out the tree and the turkey!!!!
Jesus didn't tell us to remember His birth but He did say to remember what He did on the cross and His resurrection.
Party on ,Dudes!

I think the idea of Santa has ruined the celebration of Jesus' birth. (Even though it was at a totally different time of year) Christmas is commercialized and it is all about presents. Lets face it. Presents. Jesus' was not born on December 25th. Why the ancients chose to change history...

This is obviously a joke. People celebrate because of Jesus!! Santa is just a commercial package so that shops can make more money out of people who are not even religious anymore???
