Or is that just something I should keep to myself? Does he need to know? Should he know? Is it any of his business?

You don't really have to let him know, but if he truly is a significant person in your life, you probably want to tell him that way he's in the loop and able to help you with whatever you are struggling with. If he finds out and you haven't told him, he may feel dejected and left out of your life. With that said, I want to state that there is no shame in seeing a therapist. More people than you may realize have (or are) seen(ing) a therapist for one reason or another at some point in life.

So, in my opinion, I don't believe that it cannot hurt to tell him, especially if he truly cares about you. If you are still unsure about what to do, ask your therapist what he/she thinks your best course of action should be. He/she could probably better serve your needs rather than anyone here because he/she knows you better than us. Take care and I hope things work out.

If you don't feel you can share that information with your significant other, that person doesn't really have a siginificant role in your life. Regardless of the reasons you're going into therapy, you may want support from someone who's not your therapist while you work out your issues.
