What Does the Bible Say?

The Bible does not say that God’s favored people, the ancient Israelites, venerated religious relics while in Egyptian bondage. True, the patriarch Jacob died in Egypt and his remains were carried into the land of Canaan for burial ‘in the cave that was in the field of Machpelah.’ His son Joseph also died in Egypt, and his bones were eventually carried to Canaan for burial. (Genesis 49:29-33; 50:1-14, 22-26; Exodus 13:19) However, the Scriptures give no indication that the Israelites ever venerated the remains of Jacob and Joseph as religious relics.

Consider, too, what happened in the case of the prophet Moses. Under God’s direction, he led the Israelites for 40 years. Then, at the age of 120, he ascended Mount Nebo, viewed the Promised Land, and died. Michael the archangel disputed with the Devil about Moses’ body, and Satan was foiled in any possible attempt to use it to ensnare the Israelites in relic worship. (Jude 9) Although they understandably mourned Moses’ death, they never venerated his remains. In fact, God made such a thing impossible by burying Moses in an unmarked grave at a location unknown to humans.—Deuteronomy 34:1-8.

Body.

Perhaps because in Revelation, during the last generation the two witnesses that stand before God, come back to earth during the last days and call a repent and cast plagues upon the earth for 1260 days; one of them is Moses.

They will be labeled terrorists and bring plagues. They have the power to shut the up the sky so it doesn't rain only during their speeches, turn water into blood, and many others at their will. Any man who attempts to kill them will be killed in that manner and fire shall come from their mouths and devour enemies until they are done, at which time God allows them to be killed by the desolate one.

The plagues will be so great that there will be much celebration and exchange of gifts when the Anti-Christ kills them and leaves there bodies to be unburied and displayed for 3 days.

This will be broadcast worldwide via satellite and internet and everyone on earth will see this event.

After three days they shall rise to there feet and and catch up with Jesus in the sky. Then a massive earthquake occurs in the same hour. 7000 are killed and the survivors give glory to God. Nations became angry because their time to be judged has come.

So, the body is needed for the return of Moses.

According to teachers in the early church, Jude referred to an apocryphal book known as the Assumption of Moses, of which only small portions survive.

No one really knows why they were fighting. One theory is that the devil wanted to use Moses’ body as an object of worship to lead Israel astray into idolatry. Another is that Satan wanted to desecrate the body of Moses. But for Jude, the main point isn’t "why" Michael was disputed, but "how" he disputed with the devil.

I never heard about this?

Our bones carry our DNA. They are essentially the recording of human life on Earth. . . . Literally everything is there, that everyone ever experienced through your lineage. As I thought of your question now, it almost felt like the akashic records. . .

Never explored those so I wouldn't be sure without more study.

But if you believe Moses was the leader of the chosen people of God then his DNA would kinda be critical to life on Earth or God's plans here....

Hope this helps,

It wasn't his bones, but his body.
It would appear that God raised Moses from the dead before the first resurrection and Satan contended that this was unjust because Moses, like every other man was subject to death and corruption because of Man's fall in the garden.
It is noteworthy that Moses is one of 2 people who appeared to Jesus (the other being Elijah, who escaped death, being caught away to heaven in a fiery chariot) on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Perhaps it is these two who will be the Two Witnesses mentioned in Revelation chapter 11 who prophesy and call down judgments from heaven until they are killed by Antichrist.

Satan was going to use the body for misleading reasons. Michael, (Jesus in prehuman life) cut his plans short.

Good question. I'm still not sure as to Michael's identity but he pops up in Daniel 10 as "one of" the chief princes, according to a shiny man who goes on to give the prophecy of the King of the North and the King of the South.

Bones are important. The Pharisees believed in purity and separation, unlike the Sadducees. The Pharisees were perceived to be more eclectic and democratic than the conservative Sadducees, who didn't believe in a resurrection. The Pharisees did. In Isaiah 65:3-5, the separatist attitude is illustrated by:
"a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick; who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of impure meat; who say, 'Keep away; don't come near me, for I am too sacred for you!' Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day."

Psalms 22:16-18 says: "Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my (or a lion's) hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment."

The Pharisees appear to resemble the descriptions of Babylon the Great and the dragon-voiced lamb of Revelation 18 and Revelation 13. Those who are a problem in the congregation in 2 Peter 2:1 are those who deny their masters. This might be referring to those bought as slaves who prefer to portray themselves as those who have self-resurrected. If they are like the Pharisees, they are the more charismatic types.

Jude 9 is highlighting the reason for the previous verse. Jude 8 says that dreamers pollute their bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. Therefore, these concepts tie in together - how bodies are treated and how authority is treated. Compare Colossians 2:22-23 - "These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence." This ties in quite well with Satan's personality. He's a bit of a gutless wonder who needs human support, congratulations and sycophantism in order to feel confident enough to do anything. These are human commands that support Satan's claim to be allowed to dispute over dead bodies. Therefore, Michael's deference to the way that humans want to run their planet at any given time? Compare Ephesians 6:12 - Satan as kosmokrator, krateo meaning "to hold in the hand and not let go." Also 2 Corinthians 2:11 - "outwit" or "overreach" is pleonekteo - from pollus (many, great) and echo (to have or to hold, as of kinship). Satan reels in whole families at a time. Compare Habakkuk 1:15, 16 - "The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet; and so he rejoices and is glad. Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choicest food."

Michael avoided a "blasphemia" accusation. This word derives from "hurting or injuring" (blapto) "fame or report (pheme) as of making known one's thoughts (phemi) as a shining light (phos or phaino). Does this mean that any light that could be shed on the issue was welcome? The word for "rebuke" here is the same as when Jesus commanded a demon to come out of a boy. It means: "to show honour to, to honour, to raise the price of, to adjudge, award, in the sense of merited penalty, to tax with fault, rate, chide, rebuke, reprove, censure severely, to admonish or charge sharply."

It always comes back to who's got the dough, and whether it's applicable currency. The reference might be, not to a literal event, but to an ongoing question as to what happens to people who lived before Jesus. Jude is discussing relationships, not events, maybe.
