We've heard this one before.

The Christian doctrine is that we are free to choose to want God or to reject God. If we choose to want God, we will get our wish and eventually be with God. Heaven is just a place where God is. Hell is a place for those who don't want God. The gates of hell are locked from the inside.

If someone is an atheist because they are honestly mistaken about God, I believe God forgives honest mistakes.

All of this has nothing to do with good works.

Anyone who knowingly rejects Christ is in danger of the judgement. We are saved by the grace of God through faith in what Jesus did on the cross, not by any works,Paul says"least any man boast"(say I'm more saved than you because I did such and such)God loves Doctors...Luke was a doctor,God loves ditch diggers but they have to come to salvation His way .Jesus said any other way is like a guy trying to climb a wall and break into a house. He's a thief and a robber.
That's not opinion, that's the word of God.

People are not saved from hell through "good" works but by faith in Jesus's personal sacrifice on their behalf. So yes they will if they like anyone else, refuse to believe.

If they didn't, then one could say that you could earn your way to heaven. If you can earn your way to heaven, then you can boast. That's not the way it works - the bible is emphatic on this point. I can not fill out a checklist and live a "good" life and go to heaven. I could be more compassionate and caring than Mother Theresa, but without belief and faith in God, I'm condemned.

Sadly yes because it is not about what you do but rather who you know (Jesus). Isaiah 64:6 "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags." Salvation can not be earned it is a free gift given to all who put their faith and trust in the atoning death, burial, and resurrection of God's on and only Son (Jesus Christ).

We all are. "Hell" (Sheol, Hades) is the grave, nothing more. It's not an eternally burning place. When we die, we return to the dust. Our bodies decompose. There is no immortal soul that floats off to anywhere.
