If you have a manual window crank, you'll need to remove it first. This requires a special tool to pop out the horseshoe clip behind the window crank. If you have power windows, you don't have to do anything special.

There's one screw in the small pocket behind the door release handle. The door release lever itself is attached to the door panel and has to come off with the door panel, so pull out on the release lever as if you're opening the door and take out the Torx screw you find underneath (you'll need a T-25 torx driver).

After the screws are removed, pry or pull carefully around the outside edge of the door panel to release the clips. Lift up on the door panel to unhook it from the top of the door, then pull it away a few inches so you can reach behind it. You need to unclip the lock/release rods from the door lever, as well as unplug the power window switches (if equipped) before you can fully remove the door panel.

The factory speakers are 6 1/2" in a special Chrysler 3-tab mount. Most new speakers won't fit the Chrysler mounting holes unless you buy adapters, but with many 6 1/2" speakers you can just screw them into the door metal with self-tapping screws instead of using the factory screw locations.

Speaker harnesses will make wiring the new speakers much easier; they should use a Chrysler 2-pin square plug type harness.

if you need to remove the retaining clip from a manual window crank, you can use a towel. Put the towel underneath the crank and move it back and forth. If the clip does not come out after a few seconds, try rotating the towel around the crank. The clip will come out, and you don't need a special tool.
