Imperialism is what the loyal Bushies are about in Iraq only covering it up as terrorism. There is nothing good about the invasion of Iraq. How do the Iraqis feel being labeled terrorists just to impose imperialism?

1. Who says that Imperialism has been stopped? What about economic imperialism where countries seek to dominate each other with their economic strength ? 2. At first countries were afraid of a nuclear holocaust, if war were declared. This did not stop innumerable wars around the world but it kept the major powers from attacking one another. Then war was pushed further away when the Soviet economy could not sustain a huge military machine. Gorbachov introduced reforms and established friendly relations with the USA. However, Russia has assumed dominance in the former Soviet Union and has a growing economy with large resources of oil and gas. When Russia starts to re-equip the Air Force and military we will have to watch out. It needs a rash move such as the invasion of a country in which Russia has interests to start the whole she-bang.

The war in Iraq has nothing to do with Imperialism, the only us war that we here Imperialistic was the Spanish American war of 1898. in that war we took possession of Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and the Philippines, and we still have them as possessions or states except for the Philippines. the reason we took them was for coaling stations, so vital for US navy mobility. We did not take them for there resources, the coal was shipped there, and stored there. other than that we have never gone to war and took possession of another nations land, and controlled it's government, and moved in American Industries for commercial growth. Iraq is a war where a cruel dictator was over thrown, and we are trying to get these people to quite fighting amongst themselves and establish a workable government that does not abuse it's people with torture, death and repression of very basic rights. Imperialism is the wrong term, used by those who are against the Us involvement in Iraq. It's ok to be against the war, but they should use the correct terms, Imperialism has nothing to do with what we are doing or not doing in Iraq.

the war was a great thing for the vast majority of iraqis. despite what the media shows, the violence is not all over iraq. take a look at the northern kurdish area and you will see how fast that place is developing. mosul is the 3rd largest city in iraq and has been fairly quiet for a while now, and in the south basrah, the 2nd largest city in iraq, is a fairly safe place along with the rest of the south. even places in the sunni triangle aren't as bad as they used to be. when is the last time you heard anything from fallujah or ramadi? not perfect cities, but a whole lot better than just 2 years ago.

It depends on how you define "Imperialism". In terms of territory, the present war isn't an Imperial war. Making Iraq the 51st State is not on anyone's agenda. And that is the best definition of Imperialism because once you start getting to other definitions, you start getting strong counter arguments.
Such as...
"It's Imperialistic because you're only replacing one dictatorship with a government that will back you."
Counter-"Saddam wasn't all that great a character. Would it be better for the Iraqi people to leave him in charge?"
Terrorist claim..."It's Imperialistic because you're fighting us."
Counter- "That's only propaganda to try and make us feel guilty for opposing you."

Unfortunately many people think that anyone who starts a war is evil. Their moral depravity blinds them to the fact that we are fighting a war against tyranny and oppression, as America has always done. The accusation that America's War in Iraq is an imperialistic war is nothing short of ignorance.

Imperialism is the invasion and occupation by another country. The US just did it to Iraq and it is reason why it is called an imperialist.
