sure... Just as other individuals can start being a criminal.... However with sex offenders, especially pedophiles the chance is so remote as to be almost nonexistent.

I think it depends on the criminal. Not every criminal is breaking the law from a mental need or for amusement. Some do it to feed themselves and their families. I think that if people were offered a chance to support themselves without resorting to crime, many would. Others however just want a free ride and have no morals.

Not really. There is always that criminal element in them. A guy I worked with at one time talked about what a street punk he was as a teen, stealing, robbing, etc.

As an adult with four kids, though he claims to not commit crimes, he still hangs out with known criminals (and complains about being "harassed" by the cops just because he is with these known criminals when the cops come to question any of them about a crime, and they question him too) and refuses to cooperate with the police when a crime is committed in his neighborhood. He protects whoever did it if he knows, so he is still committing crimes by aiding the criminals.

Yes. Some people do things out of desperation and simply make a serious mistake. Some people just would rather be in prison that to have to fend for themselves in the world. Many in between. I do believe some people change.

Yes, of course. Some people do learn from their mistakes... some people do make the most of second chances.

Some of those people even get rich writing books about their new lease on life...

Yes. I did.
As a teen I was crooked as heck.
I grew up, seen the light.
Now If I find a penny on the floor, I put it in the till.
People can change.

No, because they are usually lazy, and crime is easy money for practically no effort. Yes, there are risks of getting hurt, or killed, but this is acceptable to them.
