My puppy just had his shots. He is 12 weeks. He had a reaction for which he was treated. Now he wont eat or drink. He will eat his snacks. Can I dissolve a beef cube in water and give it to him?

Sure you can do that but it would be better to buy a can of low sodium broth to give to the puppy try moistening the food with it. Cut out the snacks because if the dog will eat this and not its food then it is training you to feed it what it wants. This will lead to a picky eater. If the dog does not eat at its scheduled feeding then do not allow the food to stay down after about 10 minutes. Pick it up and do not feed again until the next schedule. The puppy will not starve itself and will learn to eat when the food is available. Picky eaters are not born they are created.

NO, don't give him broth....he will throw it back up....

Poor baby, can't eat BUT he can eat his snacks?? Sounds to me like the tail is wagging the dog.....He has you right where he wants you, which I might add, is where all humans should be. Right in the palm of their little paws.....

Be sure he has nice, fresh water available. I change my boys water 3-4 times a day or they wouldn't drink it.
You might want to try hand feeding him. Some times that works if they are not feeling well. Or maybe a couple tiny pieces of meat wouldn't hurt him. Whatever you are having for dinner. He has a boo boo and should get treated extra nice.

if your dog is eating his snacks, then I don't think adding something to there food to make them eat with make the problem go away. This will only cause a dog to become picky. I freeze low sodium chicken brother in use cubes and give it to them as treats, but as far as giving it to him as a food, i wouldn't recommend it. He'll eat when he's hungry!

Please don't give your pup a beef cube for your pup to drink. first is the MSG, which dogs really cant tolerate then their is the salt in the cube. It will actually make your pup dehydrate. What you can do is go the grocery store and get him some Pedilite the one with no flavoring. It will quench your pups thirst plus built up his electrolytes and make him feel better. Also some Gatorade is acceptable but no crazy flavor OK

You can give him broth, but only unsalted real broth, such as low sodium canned chicken broth..Or, you can boil chicken livers and give him the water off of that..Save the livers for later, when he is up to eating again, and then only a small portion of a liver per day..
Some dogs like Gatorade..that is safe for him, too..
Low sodium canned chicken soup will also help get his appetite up..

No..there are other spices in those cubes that may not be dog friendly. So long as he is drinking water he is fine.

You can probably try, but if he had an allergic reaction to his shots, he might just not be hungry right now. When did he have his shots? If it was today, I wouldn't worry about it. They probably gave him benadryl, and now he is just tired. I'd wait until tomorrow and see if he is hungry. When my dog did the same thing, it was 2 days before she really wanted anything.

kinda high in msg and meant for humans, but if it will get the dog to eat, I would do it for mine.

Don't make a habit out of it, though, otherwise it might become a picky eater.
