In Matthew 28 we have the Great Commission which is the instruction of the resurrected Jesus Christ Himself to his disciples, that they spread the faith to all the nations of the world.
In Acts 13:46, , we read of Paul and Barnabas saying, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles." The Jews rejected the gospel, so Paul and Barnabas turned to the Gentiles, or "the nations."

Acts 1:8 is where Jesus Christ Himself commanded His followers to go to Gentiles.

He didn't command the Christians. He was commanded to go to the Gentiles. "I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, That they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me." As in anything in the Bible, we are to follow Paul's example.

Hmm.
I didn't find anything about Paul, but this in Acts is reported about Peter:
Acts 11:13-18
13 "And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa, and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here; 14 and he shall speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.' 15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as He did upon us at the beginning. 16 "And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 17 "If God therefore gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" 18 And when they heard this, they quieted down, and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."

well.....the apostles did it first..but paul and barnabas in acts13:44-52 are explaining to the jews that they were to hear the gospel first, but they turned it down...so they are telling them that the gentiles are going to hear the gospel for the salvation. they are saying, that god has sent them to be a light unto the gentiles.
hope this helps.
