a veterinarian? have you already gotten you're degree or are you planning to do your schooling while you're in? right now, many are shying away from the military due to iraq. i wouldn't be surprised if your parents put up a big fuss about this. if you are planning to due your schooling in the army, keep in mind, you may still be deployed. you need to discuss this with a recruiter but don't forget, you won't really get the whole story from him either. once you have all your info, then approach your parents. you need a plan not just a thought to enter the army.

Why are you scared? Joining the army is a great thing to do and you're parents should be proud of you.
But before you consider that option just be sure that you're capable of doing it. You dont wanna regret it later.
It requires hard-work and courage and many more things.
If you're sure you are for it then just go ahead and tell them that you are all for joining the army
hopefully they will agree but if not then tell them how keen you are and how much research you have done (do some research take some printouts) and tell them you can think of no other job for yourself other than that
I'm pretty sure they will understand
Good luck! =)

To qualify for an Officer appointment in the Army Veterinary Corps, you must:

Be a United States citizen
Be a graduate of an accredited United States School of Veterinary medicine.
Have a current unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in a state of the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States
Be 21-40 years of age (veterinarians over age 40 may apply for an age waiver)

Perhaps you should just try the direct approach. If you are honest, and straight forward with them, they will be more open to what you say.

You can also play up the fact that the military will pay for your college, and stuff like that!

I applaud you for wanting to join our nations fighting men and women!!! I wish you the best of luck!! It's people like you that make this country great!!! Take care!
