He poops about 6 times an hour, which is obviously quite excessive, and he seems to strain himself when he poops. He sometimes whimpers. He isn't constipated because each time he tries, he poops. The poop isn't very hard or very soft, it's right about in the middle. I don't understand what would be making this happen. He eats fine, doesn't throw up, and is active. He just has this pooping problem.

We feed him on a regular schedule. Once in the morning and once at night. We feed him purina beneful for puppies

Everyone seems to say this isn't a good food for him. Does anyone have any suggestions for a better food, or does anyone know what might be wrong with him??

See your vet.
He could very well be loaded with worms. I might also ask the vet if they could suggest a good quality food for your puppy.

Hello, Any irritation to the intestines or the bowel will trigger diarrhea or bloody poop. These irritations can vary from a change in food or water, to over excitement, or that produces an allergic response. Also, getting her first injection might have been a little scary to her, and that might be the problem. Is she eating/drinking as much as usual? If so, I wouldn't worry to much. Try giving her dry food if you feed wet food to her. If she's not eating/drinking normally, you should take her to the vet, or at least give the vet a call. However you said she will have a injection in four days, right? I think you're going to the vet to get that done, so just ask the vet about her soft stool. ♥Jolly Pup♥

This is symptomatic for many illnesses. Parasites such as worms is possible. Your dog needs to be evaluated by a vet before this does any harm to your dog.

As a general rule, any dog food you can buy at the supermarket is not going to be the best food. Although Beneful will not cause your dog to be found with all four feet sticking into the air one morning, you can find much better food.

how about taking him to the vet? He can't be too healthy if he is pooping that much.
