You can measure a person by the positive impact they had on the lives of others. When a person dies all that matters is how many hearts did that person touch. What words and memories of encouragement did they leave behind. Did they leave behind impressions. Did they leave behind imprints in the sand, that you would be honored to follow. You can measure a person by how much life they gave to other, and how much of their own lives they gave.
Spoken by a Christian, and someone who knows firsthand the impact of losing dear ones. One more thing, you never really lose a valuable person, they live on through others.

Some people waste their lives, utterly. Some examples came up here, and I agree. There are people who quite coldly have no placement value in society by choice. Of course, we like to hand out disorders like they're candy.
For example, the school shooting at Virginia Tech. Those lives lost, represented a future in engineering, science....possibilities. Wiped out, just like that. By someone who CHOSE the path he was on.
Chose not to have value. Quite simply, everyone has the potential. Value can't be measured by any one standard. But it doesn't bear up, under any amount of scrutiny when "equally valuable", is stamped on the world. Some like to scurry away from that, and become it's enemy instead.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator....
The Declaration of Independent tells a good story. We are not all equally valuable to man, but we are to our Creator.
Should we? No
God says that He raises up kings and He takes them down.
When I hear questions like this, I can't help but remember the God who created us all washed the disciples feet.
We often help those who help us and we should be helping those who could never help us back.

By the price tag.
God paid for the souls of men with the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.
"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood." (Acts 20:28)
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (I Corinthians 6:19-20)
"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." (I Peter 1:18-19)

People are created in God's image, bearing the Imago Dei. All have worth as a result.

Only time will tell.
While we all should have the same rights some people are worth more in that they are more productive.

By his/her age and gender, according to the Bible. Check my source for the specifics.
Of special note is the fact that in addition to old people, children under the age of two and unborn children are worth nothing in the eyes of God, according to the Bible, since they're not assigned values in this chapter that designates "equivalent values" when talking about different ages/genders of people.

we should not. if anything, men should be valued by their actions and words. as regards all of us being equally valuable, let me quote these verses from the Bible:
Romans 12
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
