Over-the-counter pain relief, plus anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. When I had an abcess I was given a course of anti-biotics before my treatment. Try your out of hours medical service. Have you asked advice from a chemist? People talk about cloves being helpful, but I don't know where to get them.

Oh I really feel for you. I had an abscess last month and had to live with it fo 3 weeks as couldn`t get a dentist appointment. If you go to Boots and ask over the counter for their own brand dental pain relief tablets; the correct name is, di-hydracodeine, they are the strongest pain killers you can buy. They are £3.99. A little pricey but they sure help the pain. Please see your dentist as soon as you can. Mine resulted in the death of a tooth and I had to have very expensive root canal treatment afterwards, but at least the pain has gone now!!! Good luck and get better soon. XXX

You need to go to your dentist who can prescribe antibiotics to ease some of the infection but will not cure it.
If you have an abcess you with either need to have root canal treatment (which is not as bad as people make out) or to have to tooth taken out to remove the infection.
I understand your in pain but the only thing you can do for now is take pain killers untill you see a dentist.

Take Ibuprofen and Paracetamol in an overlapping routine (if you are OK with both drugs) take ibuprofen, then paracetamol 2 hours later, then ibuprofen 2 hours later, then paracetamol 2 hours later, etc, etc. Failing that, Paramol, they are expensive, but they do work.
Never allow any painkiller (especially asprin) to disolve on the affected tooth, this will add to your problems as they will add to any tooth decay.
Also, make a mouth wash out of warm (not hot) water and salt, this will help soften the abcess and help kepp any infection from spreding - use this 2-3 times a day.
Pester your dentist untill they find you an appointment, if you make a big enough nuscance of yourself they will fit you in just to shut you up.

Try bonjela gel if can get some and take regular doses of paracetamol. Use an antiseptic mouth wash to try and keep germs at bay.
Sorry you are in such pain.
Is there not an emergency dentist at your local hospital?
If in UK ring NHS direct and they will give you details of an emergency weekend dentist.

Because of the infection, you wont be able to be rid of the pain. What I would recommend though is to go to a clinic. A doctor there can give you Amoxicillin and/or a better pain reliever than over the counter.

Try laying your hands on the strongest pain killers you can get and instead of swallowing the pill, leave it next to the tooth/affected area to dissolve slowly. It's going to tatse pretty bad but it works.

if you have it ,,try putting some whisky, rum vodka or whatever on some cotton wool , kitchen towel or small cloth wadding and aply it to the absces, keep putting more alcohol on the wadding as it dries out/suck it dry.
TCP may work but it will sting like hell
