We use a school style paddle and never give more than three at a time (usually two). I think it works better than using our hand or a belt. We send them to their room, tell them what they did to deserve the spanking, how many swats they are going to get and what they can do to improve. They must take it without resistance or they get an extra one. I'm glade we used this method because they are well behaved and hardly ever need it. Some say its abusive, but I believe otherwise as it worked for me growing up. Not only that God command us parents to do it and some of the best people I know were spanked.

You can tell the difference instantly as to whose kids are spanked for disobedience, and those who get "time-out."
Spanked kids rarely misbehave, while time-out kids are usually the ones whining for this toy or that treat at the checkout counter.
Spanking, contrary to what the "enlightened ones" on this site say, is an effective tool for the parent.
It is not child abuse.

I have two children. I've only had to spank my daughter once when she was four and told me she was going to get a knife and kill herself. She went for the knife--I went for her butt.
That was the only time I ever spanked her.
My children are now 9 and 15. They are also well behaved. If you know how to talk to your children and treat them with respect they will treat you the same.
My 15 year old son has never even raised his voice to me. Do you know why? I don't raise my voice to him.

I was spanked but it didn't have an effect on me, as I was stubborn. I had to learn everything the hard way. My daughter didn't need much spanking, she would obey when I got upset and cried. She hated disappointing me. I believe there are times when a spanking is needed I just didn't want to over use it.

I have a 21mo previous and we dont spank. i think he's merely too youthful to do not ignore that mommy hurting him bodily is attaching to even with he did incorrect. in spite of the indisputable fact that, we do proceed to exist a street the position ******* like to rigidity somewhat too quickly each and every each and every now and then. There is nothing wrong with giving a child a little spanking, when it is needed. It is NOT child abuse.
There is a big difference in beating a child and giving a swat on the behind, when it is needed...

It's barbaric and it's child abuse. How can anyone - who calls themselves a Christian, no less - think it's ever OK to inflict pain on a child? It shows a cruel spirit and a lack of imagination.
I believed in corporal punishment right until I had my own children, and then I knew they had been given to me in sacred trust and I should protect them and never harm them. We try to think of imaginative punishments to fit the crime. For example, my eldest daughter invited her friend for a sleepover when we had specifically told her that she couldn't. We banned her from sleepovers for two weeks. A few days later some friends from church were all getting together for a sleepover and a film, and when she realised she couldn't go she cried and cried. She learned her lesson and won't forget it, and I didn't have to give her any pain.
Shame on you for treating your children so badly. If you can't care for them properly, you don't deserve to be a parent.

My son's are older now, but I NEVER spanked then once...and ya know what, they have carried this on with their children....there is no need to spank your children, if you truly love them....you need to have patience with a child, and that's what its all about...Patience.
