Because when they where kittens they would knead on their Mommy's belly to get the milk to come out. So they associate it with being happy or content. When they do it as adults it just means they are happy. If they do it on you that means you make them feel happy and content like Mama did when she nursed them! Yay for you!! Your kitty loves you.

Cats only want attention when you are busy.

I think you mean "knead" as in taking their paws and kneading them on you. I don't know why cats do this. I've read somewhere though that it goes back to when they were kittens, kneading on their mama's teats to get the milk to come out. But why an adult cat does it I don't know. My cat kneads my hair whenever I lay down, it drives me insane.

They need because this is what they did with the mother cat to feed, it is also a way that they try to bond with you and show affection.

Just like any animal all they want is love and attention. They love to be rubbed behind the ears and on the neck.

Cats are self centred-it's part of their charm. When they want attention they demand it if not you better leave them alone or out come the claws lol.

They do it because when they were kittens the knead massages the milk flow out of the mothers mammary glands.

So your cat thinks it's on it's mummy's boobies. But if it gets it's mouth on your nipples kick the dirty little p.u.ssy out of the house. Those little sharp teeth really hurt, I can tell you.

Kitties give "kitty massages" instinctively. The rubbed on their mama to stimulate the flow of her milk, and they continue to do it whenever they feel want to feel safe and loved. That's their way of saying that you are like a parent to them.

Mine always does it on my neck though, and it's not very pleasant.

my little grey cat has become like a shadow lately. when i sleep she sleeps on the bed next to me, and if I wake up she mews at me to pet her or play with her. she follows me all around the house, "talking" to me about everything she does all night while i'm at work. she has a very high pitched whiny mew.
