I took Zoloft for 5 years, however am now taking Wellbutrin. It usually takes about a month for it to start working and you may have some initial side effects which are worse, but then tend to lessen or completely disappear. As far as continuous side effects I gradually gained a little bit of weight but only 10 pounds max, and I'm not positive it was the Zoloft. Two other side effects which were more annoying to me were sleep problems such as generally feeling tired a lot more. I also lost my libido and barely had a sex drive anymore. Another thing that would happen, is eventually my body would get used to the Zoloft and periodically they would have to keep upping my dosage.

However, on a positive note Zoloft helped me immensely with depression/anxiety. I become much more motivated. I would not have taken it otherwise. Good luck, and keep in mind drugs affect everyone differently.

I use to take Zoloft when I was in HS and I did not like it at all. I never wanted to eat and I was very skinny. It was not a good look. I also use to get chills and cold sweats, jittery, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate and was depressed. It did not help me at all. Paxel did the had the same symptoms. In combination with Ritalin the symptoms were intecified. The doc that I go to now says the any of these drugs in combination with Ritalin is the worst combination. State that one drug will just counter act the side effects of the other.

I have seen Zoloft act like a miracle drug for my best friend. But when they put me on it (and we have the same condition) I gained a lot of weight maybe 40 - 50 lbs. I went from insomnia to not being able to stay awake. My depression spiraled out of control and was suicidal. Once off of it and my body readjusted I became very violent until it worked its way out of my system. It did zero to control the panic or depression.

Zoloft is very hit and miss from what I have seen. If you take it it is like flipping a coin. I have met many online like me who reacted this way and met just as many it was the only thing that made them whole.

Dr. Burns has a book called Feeling Good that was the drug that helped depression for me. Panic I still work on but is much better after long term therapy that I still do and lifestyle changes.

When I took Zoloft, at first it used to make me tired... so I would take it in the evenings. But I think that side effect diminished over time. It did help my depression and anxiety for a couple of years... But then it quit working for me. I'm now taking Cymbalta.

Zoloft has saved my life, and it has given me my life back. My abilities to think and speak logically, and my ability to grasp the concepts of rainbows, hugs and smiles has evolved from the shadows where I had merely survived before.
The very first week I started on it - years ago - I was sick to my stomach one time. Since then, there has been only one negative side effect, a diminishment in sex drive. Compared to the life I lived before going on this medication, that is a very minor inconvenience, and my life has taken on a love of life and confidence toward living. -- It's not ALL medication, I participated in counseling/therapy and my faith in God has grown also, as well as positive participation in family and friendships. Together I am so grateful to be alive.

While I have gained some weight, I do not believe it had any connection with this drug.

I took Zoloft for a little while and experienced absolutely nothing. I had no side effects, but it didn't help my depression at all, either.

It didn't help my sister at all, (according to her) but I saw positive changes in her moods. She didn't like it because it made her tired. A friend if mine was helped tremendously by it.

I think it works great for some and not for others.

The proper dosage is critical, so you have to try it at a low dose and go up bit by bit.

If it makes you feel better, then continue but if it makes you feel badly, then try something else. 25mg is such a low dose I don't think it would do anything for anyone, but I think generally you are started out at this dose. Most people take 50-100 mg but get to that dose over a period of months.

ive been taking it and it isnt working for my panic attacks. im on 25 mg which is a very low dose when i upped it to 50mg i got bad heart palpatations so they lowerd it back. doesnt work so im still having panic attacks. so im switching meds back to paxil it works better for me. as for gaining weight it seems all ssri's do that so just be really careful, excersise and eat healthy! really healthy. what they do is uncrease your appetite so u want to eat all the time so just eat healthy and you should be fine. ssri's are like shoes it takes a while to find the right one that fits. good luck maybe this will be it i know people are fans of it. paxil cr works best for me.
