The way I see it is as the illegal immigrants need to understand that what they are doing is ILLEGAL! I dont care how many protests you have, you cant just come to America for the heck of it. It is Against the Law!!!!
With that, I also think the United States Government should make it easier to become a legal american citizen.
What is your stand on it, What should the American Government do, and Why?

I think the American government should start fining people who hire illegals. People can not just decide they are going to break the law because they feel like it. I think it is very disrespectful for the people who did become citizen the right way.

It is realy as easy as 1,2 and 3. (1) Make all illegal immigrants that can prove that they have been here for 5 yeas or more. And have lived here lawfully. Permanent residents.(there is no way your going to be able to send them all back) That puts them all into our tax base. Should they continue to live lawfully, then in 5 years they can apply for citizenship. (2) Make a guess worker program. Give the illegals away to come here legaly and work. This will add them to our tax base and even out the job market for everyone. Employers would have to pay fair wages for all workers. The workers would pay their fair share in taxes. Instead of that money being sent back to their home country. (3) Once that the above two systems are in place. Then you make it a felony to be illegal in our country. With a term of two to ten years in prison. After which you will be deported. Once convicted you can not be eligible for any worker program or visa to come back to the US. Should you be caught again, it's back to prison you go. Ten to twenty years this time. You have to put teeth in to the law if it is to mean anything......Now, I am an American of mexican descent, as my father before me and his before him. I am not mexican/American, because I am not mexican first and American second. So you can not throw the racist card at me for speeking the truth. America is a nation governed by the rule of law. It is one of the things that makes our country great. The rest of the world can criticize us and our way of life. But they are the ones that are sure trying to get here.

illegal immigration is this country's most serious problem, ahead of the war on terrorism, and our future depends upon electing legislators who are willing to uphold the law and put an end to it. i'll say something else that i believe some people are afraid to say. considering this country's record on unrestricted access to this country over the past 30 years, and the fact that so many people say there is no way to get rid of all the illegals already here (which i don't agree with), i think much stricter standards must be set for who comes here and gets citizenship. temporary visas could be granted without a "path to citizenship" at least for now. definitely no citizenship for countries whose governments are known or suspected of being hostile to the united states. what would be wrong with a "native population growth" campaign, encouraging married couples to have more kids? we already have a diverse group of citizens from all over the world. you know this negative population growth in europe and leveling off in america started several decades ago, when alarmists came out with doomsday statistics that at the world's current population growth rate, everyone would be starving by 2010 or something like that. their figures, just like the global cooling/warming figures, have proven pathetically off target.
these are tough times. it's time for this country to start taking care of its own people and problems.

Anything in life that is too easy to come by is not appreciated very much , so I will disagree on making it easier.
I agree with you that the word ILLEGAL is a key term here.
Too many people pick and choose the laws they obey, and this is what these people want to do.
What if they decide that running red lights are not illegal.
How is it that the people that support illegal aliens, can do so and look you in the eye.
The same logic will let me slap them to the ground and just walk away. That is wrong.
enough said have a great day,,
thanks for a good question

Im on the side of legal Americans that built this country. The government needs to enforce the laws we already have on the books against illegal entry into this USA . They need to jump on the company's that hire them and put them out of business if they knowingly hire illegal aliens The borders must be secured and then deport all of them without exception.

Illegal immigration is illegal.
The government should enforce the law.
Making it easier to become a citizen I would not find to be a solution. That is simply handing out citizenship. If people wish to become citizens they can do so by complying with the law.

I am not for it, but I recognize the fact that most are used for slave labor, which it is illegal to hire them and are mostly Republicans and sweat shops with government contracts (like in Bedford, Ma and San Antonio, TX)! They are also the same group that complains about them the most. That's why Republicans never address the issue!
Arrest those hiring them, put them in jail, and most illegals will go home when there job dries up! That's what we should do. That is what the Republicans wont do as they are generally their slave labor!
It als saddens me somewhat to hear the verbal abuse and hatred directed at them when we were immigrants who came to this country, killed the Indians, and stole Texas, California, New Mexico, Nevada and Arizona from the Mexicans!
The people who stole it were illegals who squatted Mexican land, and had to use the US Military under Polk, to finish stealing it.
And they still supply us with 1/3 of our oil!

I think if youre here illegally, you should be returned to your country with your entire family. Dont keep the children here and sepearate them from their families.
THe jobs here are too hard to find as it is. In my state you have to speak spanish it seems just to get an office job. Thats not right.
