I'm a freshman in highschool, and have a crush on a girl (not at school, at my church youth group). She is shy, but not too shy to talk to me, in fact, because I'm so shy, she is usually the one initiating the conversation. I was just wondering what signs I can look for that she might like me?

P.S. She might know that I like her.

Play it really mellow and just talk to her when the opportunity presents itself.
When the timing is good, ask her to join you at your local hangout or coffee shop-- whatever you prefer. If things seem to be going well, ask her to go to a movie or to a youth group outing together.
If you work on being friends first, the rest will follow...

P.S. My daughter is a freshman too and has the same issues with guys. HS is a crazy time---- I would not want to re-live it for anything.

All of you middle school boys are probably influenced to think that preteens reel in girls just like those highschool brothers of yours do. Highschool girls are way different than 12-14 year olds. They like different things!
Steps

1. Understand what middle school girls are looking for. Middle school Girls have a few types of boys: Adorable/Cute, Hott, Sweet, Funny, Smart. Here are the characteristics:
* Adorable/Cute- Maybe not the best athlete and doesn't have the best body. They have adorable faces and hair and are normally grouped with being funny and sensitive.
* Hott- a great face, body, hair and a jock. Doesn't have to be so friendly, but girls fall for them anyway.
* Nice- It can be grouped up sooo easily... superfriendly and possibly cute, but has a bad butt.
* Funny- He doesn't have to be anything but have a good sense of humor and normally has good hair.
* Smart- Very smart, but not a know it all. Has a semi-good body and doesn't have to be all that athletic or cute.
2. Decide which one of those you are like and try to be more like it.
3. Don't act dumb and don't gross her out. Especially don't talk about anything perverted. She'll think you're weird and will want to stay away.
4. Spend some time with her. Ask her to help you with a problem. If you sit next to her it will be easier to get her attention. Just say (don't make eye contact with her) "Ugh, I don't get this!"
5. Don't stare at her. This will most likely creep her out.
6. If she asks you for help, be glad to help. Don't make it obvious though, just say "Sure".
7. Compliment her once or twice on her hair, clothes, etc without talking in a mousy high voice. That's what makes girls laugh at you. Talk in a very masculine, normal voice. And don't be that specific. Just say they look nice.
8. Girls like being complimented.
9. If you notice something out of place about her politely tell her. Say something like "Hey, your shoes are untied."
10. Accidently touch them (NOT ANYWHERE THAT A PREIST WOULDN"T APPROVE OF!). On the arm when you're both looking at a project or fix their hair when it's out of place. Or give them a high five when they get a goal in PE.
11. SMELL GOOD! And be sure not to mention your deoderant or collogne when talking to a girl. They don't need to be reminded of how you smell without deoderant covering up your stink!
12. Don't be such a show-off.
13. BE OBVIOUS! Girls like that. It gives them confidence. IF A GIRLS DOESN'T LIKE YOU, move on. Girls think it's pathetic to be stuck on one girl that hates you forever.

Tips

* Be clean. Take a shower everyday and brush your teeth. Use lots of cologne (no don't use lots of cologne girls don't like that. It makes you seem like your trying to hard)- almost to the point where it hurts to breathe, girls like that. Girls think boys that play sports are hot. Sports like soccer and baseball. Touch her arm when you talk to her. Girls like that.

Warnings

* Don't be rude or mean to others. Even if she's not there. You might think it is funny to talk about how small her brain is, but she has feelings. Other people (other guys who like her) will tell her what you said and she'll think you're a jerk.
* Don't use step 2 more than once a day. She'll most likely get tired of helping you and will ignore you. As much as guys like a dumb girl who doesn't know what shes doing, girls generally look at intelligence when choosing a mate.
* Make sure your friends with her before you compliment her otherwise she will think you are teasing her.

Hope it helps.Good Luck!!
