...If you do, then call the Manchester police! They will be round there in no time at all and make that racist shop-keeper remove the offending items! But dont bother calling them if something serious occurs, like robbery or violence or burglary or ANYTHING that may require them to do what they are paid to do! If you do , you MAY see one of them in two or three days time, if they are in the area and fancy a cup of tea! By the way, the part about the Gollywogs is true, it has happened on two occations, all the rest is commonplace!

If you mix with the wrong company what do you expect keep away from trouble and you'll be OK.
The Police have their jobs to do and they do it well.

There is a simple explanation.
When is the last time a law abiding shop keeper assaulted a policeman? Stop a stolen BMW that has a couple of hard men inside and plod may get popped. Police still draw the same salary whether they are pursuing bank robbers or arresting a chap in a suit for stepping on the gaps between the paving stones.

That is where New Labour's increased spending of our money goes.

Harvey Nichols sells 'em. Way out of the jurisdiction of the Manchester police.

Footnote: I heard about the fuss over Gollywogs on Terry Wogan's morning radio show. Am I allowed to say "Terry Wogan" in Manchester, or do we call him something else?!

Some of the people on here don't seem to know what a Gollywog is.

Clive - I know a lot of cops and they definitely do not like having to enforce these silly laws. They want to catch real criminals, but the government and justice system won't let them.

When I was 11 or 12 years old, my mom went to a craft show and bought me this hand-sewn doll... it had a yellow w/red flowers body, long red legs (each leg a different pattern) long colorful arms, a big red felt smile, and each eye was a button surrounded by a large red felt circle.... it had red yarn hair... and it was called a Gollywog. I figured that was just another word for a cute- trollish like fantasy creature.

Over 30 years later, I think I still know where that doll is...

Anyway, so what's your definition of a gollywog?

This is a good point about the police wasting resources.

The Manchester police let Mosside become a no go area. They let gangs run rampant.
They let life become hell for most mosside residents.
THIER INACTION LET MANY PEOPLE BECOME THE VICTIMS OF DRUG PUSHERS.

If this had happened in a white area..........................No it would not have happened would it?

Fact. In the southern states of the US, the klan pushed drugs into black areas so as to help destroy black communities.

Of course that would never happen in the UK.

I think you're missing the point. The name's the issue. Just get everyone to call them "Trevors" ...as in Trevor MacDonald or Trevor Philips... and everyone will be happy.
