Xp Media Center is Xp Prof with Media Center added and the shiny Royal theme. The theme can be downloaded from here:

As for Media Center there are some alternatives like:

http://www.meedio.com/home.html (it's been bought by yahoo)

No and No -- you is in basic terms no longer waiting to position in from a burned CD and the awesome code is in basic terms for one computing device - once you've get admission to to the unique CD you could deploy about 3 cases - each and each and every time you enter the code this is with the CD then you truly have 30 days to sign up it with M/smooth - an simple loose telephone call (keep a pen and paper waiting) or an internet registration - this may totally turn on the recent deploy -

There were a patch last year to modify XP to MCE, but dont see it around any longer as Vista is out. WHy you need MCE ? if for TV, then I would think a clean install of MCE2005 is a better option, as these add-on packages are written by users without real code knowledge of MCE, so it may break your XP while running.

Unfortunately if you have pro it won't give you media center features. When Microsoft designed the new OS Vista they came up with Ultimate that ties Pro and Media together so you can do it all on one system.
