You tell someone something that goes against their beliefs and instead of: 'hmm...you might have a point' you hear 'thats just nonsense!'

The psalmist wrote: "I said in my haste 'all men are liars' " (Psalm 116:11)

Paul Simon said it this way;
"All lies in jest,
still a man hears
what he wants to hear
and disregards the rest"
from "The Boxer"

you must be born again!

It's the same thing when atheists ostensibly ask a question directed at christians and then pick an atheists answer as best answer. When you bring it up to them they give the usual crap that an atheist could better answer a religious question than the believers could, and other such nonsense. It doesn't surprise me at all that people who claim to be looking for the truth of any matter in this place are really trolling for acceptance to the target crowd they want so desperately to be numbered among. That, or the points, or both. The solitude of anonymity and seperateness from the herd is always my first choice.

Truth is only something that pertains to a certain individuals likings. Otherwise, it is just not the truth. People would rather be told a blissfull lie than accept a harsh truth. Just the reality of the matter. Salaam!

It means that people recognize the truth all the time, but do not have the strength or desire to tell it to people so that they can hear it with their ears. But everyone knows the truth inside of them.

People like having their ears tingled because they think they possess the only truth and that is what they are going to hear from anyone so when they hear something that is not, they refused to listen or possibly take it to heart and filer it out as bunk or an impossibility of being true.

Everyone has a view of reality that is right for them. The truth to one person might not be the truth to another. It does not mean that we can't share ideas on truth and reality, but don't expect everyone to see things in your unique way.

We make up a society based on pretty lies. When people say that they want the truth, they mean that they want the "social truth," not the actual truth that is much better suited for inner monologue. LOL

Example 1) Social Correctness:
Bride: "Thank you for coming to the wedding."
Guest: "You look beautiful in your dress!"

Example 2) What the Guest is Really Thinking:
Bride: "Thank you for coming to the wedding!"
Inner Monologue: .o0(I can't believe this b-itch wore white!)

Human nature? If we hear something else that what we want to hear we become defensive or if we hear the truth we get hurt.

Its kind of like when you are walking in the department store and you see a Really nice pair of shoes and say wow, I want that. But you realize that your wallet is empty.

People will see alot of truth and want it, but at the same time aren't ready to get it yet. They need to slowly work there way up to the truth. so that when it comes to them, they are prepared. (line upon line, precept upon precept.) Milk before meat....

because we all have different opinions as to what the "truth" is. the problem is that some people are too close-minded to realize that. to them, anyone who believes something different believes something “false”.

these stubborn, judgmental, provincial people are completely oblivious to the notion that there MIGHT ACTUALLY be other religions/beliefs out there! the idea is alien to them. It’s funny. are they really that naive?

"oh horrors! you believe something different than me! i guess i will have to attack you for it!"

they are sad, insecure people
