Ive looked into that.
For one I think the conditions he puts up for the experiments are pretty harsh for 'emotional' people. People tap better into their abilities when they dont feel like theyre under pressure, and theyre in a good mood.
But thats just my opinion.
On a more sensible note, I would like to say that psychic abilities are not as easy to use as the 5 senses. Mainly because, how shall I say, they work on inspiration.
For a famous psychic to take his test, they would also lose a lot of their credibility if the test came out wrong, so I doubt they would want to risk that.
But its very rare, that you find a gifted person, who does not somehow use their talent to make money, and is willing to go through his experiment, either looking like a friggin prophet if they win, or a complete fake if they lose.

1.) Any portfolio should have a diverse asset allocation. That means not all of it is in liquid cash. However, that doesn't mean the money isn't available. If Randi had invested this money in cash back when he only had $10,000, then he would have about $20,000 now instead of over $1,000,000. Using the excuse that he doesn't have the money really has no impact since you have to earn the money before you are entitled to receive it. No one has ever come close. 2.) Randi is indeed a showman. His showmanship is very important when evaluating paranormal claims. His skills as a magician have given him insight into how tricks are performed. He has busted people who fooled scientists. Besides, he works with scientists so his skill set doesn't matter. He never said scientists are unable to test, he said scientists aren't necessarily adept at catching the tricks. 3.) Of course the participant has to pay his own way. Why would the JREF--a not for profit--pay to house and feed this person? 4.) It's Randi's money so he has a say in what the terms of the agreement are. One of the terms is that the threshhold of success is stated by the participant taking the challenge. This is an interactive process. It's his challenge, so he gets to control the publicity. 5.) He doesn't prevent the claims the applicant makes from being tested anywhere the applicant wishes them to be tested, but if the applicant wishes to win the $1,000,000, then he has to do so at a place they both agree upon. 6.) The rules changed so that only someone who has received media attention can take the challenge. This is to weed out the crackpots that were taking up a lot of his time. If you have a talent, then get an academic to check you out or get a story written about your talent. This is just a matter of economics of time. Once a person has a public persona then they can be tested in the challenge. 7.) Randi is a self confessed liar? When did he ever say he is a liar? I'd love to see your source on this one. The fact of the matter is the challenge is a test of paranormal powers. If you are unable to demonstrate your paranormal powers accurately and repeatedly then you aren't going to win the money. If you truly have such powers then you should be able to perform them under scrutiny. That's how you earn the million. I encourage everyone to read the follow:

I saw a young Russian girl on a TV show that had the ability to touch people and tell what was wrong with their health. Doctors in Russia had then examined the people and confirmed her findings. She did not even know what the words for some of the ailments were and would describe them instead. A skeptic from America flew her to to the US to 'test' her. The girl was presented with people who had been diagnosed by doctors as to having an ailment. She got 5 out of 7 of the people's ailments correct. The skeptic said she failed the test. Who's to say the other two weren't misdiagnosed by the doctors. But I thought she passed with flying colors. She was real. If the skeptic is determined to not believe it, then they won't.

I would imagine he deals with loons every day, give up the money that EASY ,no one can prove nonsense.I have said one hundred times,we already have proof positive,no one can talk to the dead. The world famous Harry Houdini was obsessed with the after life,He gave his wife a secret so that if He could communicate after death she would know it was Him.Being Rich and Famous Mediums came from all over the world,Many said Harry was there,His wife knew He was not.The dead came not speak to us, read the life of Harry Houdini and also read Pikes Peak. Both proof.

James Randy is a fraud he makes his money feeding lies to the people.
And when he dies he will be in for the biggest shock of his life,James Randi does not believe what Jesus said in that he would
rise from the dead, and us as well.
People think they can do what they like because of James Randi, The man is a menace he tells us there is no communication with our loved ones and there is. The communication of saints the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Is that all lies I don't think so. James Randi needs our prayers to set him straight.
