Stalin was a Atheist and he killed millions
Mao was a Atheist and he killed millions
Having no religion does not make you a better person.
Being a better person does. having a religion or not is up to you. if you have to kill in the name of your god then its not much of a god. Killing because you dont have a god is pure Evil !
The evils done by man are done by man. not by religion.

If the United States had *not* had a Bible-believing Christian as its General of the Armies and as our first President, there would not *be* a United States today! We would then be "privileged" to be another colony of Great Britain, like Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
If one can still find and read any *accurate* history books about the founding of our country, one would find out that God divinely watched over and protected Washington, several times, while the Revolutionary War was being fought! He has several horses shot out from under him and, more than once, a gun misfired, or bullets missed him, when attempts were made to kill him! In fact most, if not all of our Founding Fathers (Thomas Jefferson is the *only* possible exception) were devout Christians!
George Washington resisted attempts of his supporters to declare him, "King George I, sovereign of the United States of America"!
Even a casual reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Unites States Constitution would show that this nation was founded upon strong Biblical principles.
If we had an atheistic President, we would soon be taken over by Islamofascists who would demand, at the point of the scimitar, that all must bow down to Al-lah! Those who wouldn't bow down to their false god would be beheaded, then the Sunni and Shite Muslims would try to kill each other off!
If one sect finally prevailed, there might be peace for a little while; but true and lasting peace will never come until the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, returns to the earth in triumph, to set up His Kingdom!
You call yourself, "Missing Link" - between *what*? A one-celled amoeba and a jackass?

Then be scared my friend because I know God is on the side of those who have faith in Him. Every country that knows the Lord is blessed. God Bless America. In God We Trust.
An atheist president would fit right in to tickling the ears of other leaders. What does the atheist believe in - himself?
Pragmatic - practical - Sorry, I have already had a taste of knowing the Lord. Practical doesn't do it for me.
Wouldn't his decisions be more rational than Gods? Sorry, God makes more sense than man.
Distance himself from prejudice - The atheist is the most prejudiced of all. He only believes in what man can do. He has no hope for anything hereafter. God says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
HOW DOES MAN GIVE ME HOPE? Faith, Hope and Love - without those 3 there is no greatness.

I don't believe the problem to be a belief in God, or a lack of one. I don't understand why an Atheist President would fail to worship power and money like every other ruler, or statesman in the world. Although your heart may be in the right place, religion has nothing to do Middle East issues...Any American want a gallon of gas for $3.00 while it's still CHEAP?

Couldn't this president be a woman?
Aside from that, I give a hypothetical and cautious yes to all your points.
I'm sure Theists are currently writing that having our nation under the control of an atheist would leave us vulnerable to attach from the religious extremists of the world, such as al-Qaeda, who want to destroy all atheists. My answer is that they already hate America and say it is because we are all atheists. They mean this in the Dawkins-esque hypothetical definition of "atheism with respect to Allah." So there would be little or no difference there. It also may please other nations who feel we are too theocratic (most of Europe, for example).

I would not mind an atheist, but I also wouldn't mind a truly spiritual leader who did not select the parts of religion that suited an agenda. Jimmy Carter springs to mind. He might not have been the most popular president, but he is a man who lives his convictions and tries to do the right thing as he sees it. I am not religious but I respect people who try and live by their beliefs and are not just talking heads kowtowing to political whims and advisors.

being religious and being a fundamentalist are too different things. Religion guides our leaders in many different ways and it's not religion that corrupts leaders, it's power. I don't see how having a president that doesn't believe in a higher power would help mid-east relations. If anything, it would make him have less understanding of religious conflicts abroad.

Depends on the individual.
But the string of professing Christians we've had lately is fairly new when you consider the Unitarian and Deistic Presidents we've had in the past.

No; it would be a lot better if you didn't have a president who uses religious wars as an excuse to "liberate" oil though.

Somewhat. Certainly, decisions would be more rational, but most of the decisions taken by American Presidents are not irrational on their face. There are, of course, exceptions, and we could expect that the exceptions would diminish.

Perhaps, but as most of our morals of fairness and decency come from the Bible, would you REALLY want a president who had no code of ethics except what he happened to feel was right on any given day?
I mean, suppose a bill came up to euthanize everyone over the age of 40.
Without the morality of the Bible which commands the sanctity of life, he might say "Why not euthanize everyone with red hair?"
Or green eyes, or any physical defect?
Bible-based morality benefits a nation, as long as it isn't corrupted by foolish politicians.
I don't agree with lots of things the president does, but hopefully if he does in fact have a belief system, then it won't go to extremes of perversity.
