Why do some people like to dye their hair pink, blue or other colors not found in nature?

When people first starting doing this -- about 10 - 12 years ago -- it was kind of cool because it was *new* and not that many people were doing it. But, now, it looks sooo 1998.

The other day I saw a girl walking down the street whose bob-cutted hair was dyed entirely bright pink. From a distance, she looked like she had an old-fashioned swim cap or shower cap on her head! Definitely not cool, IMO.

ha thats funny. but you know i really dont know my self why people are doing that. i like you said it was cool a long time ago but not now. i think they do it for attention. obviously. it kinda looks nice on some people but not everybody should try to pull it of b/c it doesnt look right on most people.

I dont think there's anything wrong with it. Some people just like to be different and if it means dying their hair a bright color, so what? I thought about putting a pink streak in my hair because I love the color pink and I want to do something different. People started dying their way way before 1998, it was happening back in the 80s. At least they arent walking around trying to be like everyone else with cookie cutter hairdos.

I don't know a lot of things, why people die their hair some goofy color is one. Another is why anyone would care, aside from a perspective employer. And yet another, why someone would deny my pink roses and blue sky calling them unnatural.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. But as I said, I don't know what motivates a lot of people to do things. I heard someone say once, "but everybody is doing it, I want to be different like them". Silly but true...

because i like to look as outrageous as possible, not like every other generic-looking clone on the street!!! i have my hair shaved to 1/2" all over, except for my extremely long bangs, which are HOT PINK!!! yeah it ROCKS!!!

Hey, if it's a color you really like, why not? Who cares what anybody else thinks?

I think they just want to be unique, or stand out,
or maybe b/c their parent hate it and like to rebel :-)
