Atlanta is not as cheap as the rest of the South but it is still affordable. That is plenty to live on here. You can very reasonable priced places to live in nice areas of town. I know a lot of people that make less than that, have kids and live a nice life here. You will be just fine.

It certainly depends on your needs and standard of living but I would say that 37,000 is enough for a single adult in the Atlanta area to have a decent apartment and maintain a car note, rent, bills, etc. When I was in college I did it for about 25,000. That included rent (shared with roommates), a $300 car note, gas, food, bills, etc. Your main concern will probably be an apartment. Check out some of the subrubs for awesome deals on apartments. I have to warn you however that the city has the nations longest commute in terms of travel time. A more centralized location in the city with reasonable rent is the North Druid Hills area. It's a main road and close to 85 and 285 as well as Buckhead and lots of shopping and restaurants. Atlanta is an amazing city, good luck!

Yes, 37K is enough to live in Atlanta if you live alone.

You can find a nice 1bd/1ba for about $600 - 700 or a 2bd/1ba for about $700 - 800 a month. The rest of your bills(gas, electric, phone, etc.) might range from $300 - 400 a month.

There are areas inside the perimeter that are pretty expensive (ex. Midtown, Downtown, Buckhead), but the further out you go the better deals you'll find.

You should do fine on that income though.

As other have said depends on how you want to live. You could definitely make it in atl on that salary. Apt prices vary drasticly by location. I'd say a 1 br would be $700-800 intown to $500-600 in the burbs,
car prices don't vary that drastically,
gas is relatively cheap compared to the rest of the country,
sales tax varies from 6-8% depending on county,
vehicle taxes aren't that bad.

yes. You can have an apartment in a decent area and still make car payments and other bills. You will have a little left for fun but the budget will be tight. I am assuming this is for a single adult. For a married couple or family this would be even tougher but it can be done.
