Dear Avatard, I would chat with you, but I have been reported so many times for chatting. You too, I see. Speaking of chatting, I love you, and I love your shades even more -- smiles (To all ye reporters of chatting, this was not chatting?????)

A comma is like a yellow light and a semi-colon is like a yield sign.

A comma seperates individual but related clauses of a sentence. It gives the eye a nice place to rest and take in what was just read. If your reading out loud, it also gives you a nice opportunity to catch your breath:
I went down to the post office, mailed my letter, then came back home.
(Actually a pretty horrible sentence but the best I can come up with on short notice.)
The semi-colon also seperates two individual but related clauses in sentence. The way I understood it was that the semi-colon worked something like an "and."
The mailman delivered my letter; I received a reply the next day.
At least, that's how I think my 7th grade grammar teacher explained it to me. It's been a long time since 7th grade grammar, so I probably have something wrong there.
I tried very hard to work in a Biblical reference but couldn't find any.

a comma, gives pause for thinking - as opposed to a coma, which gives pause for reflection
a semi-colon is not a full colon... which is a great gathering place for s***. The semi-colon, on the other hand, is only semi important when the s*** hits the fan.
blessings my very (((dear))) Uncle Wayne! :)

i have learned that the comma is like a hook , it let the ignorant reader pause and think for a while. The semi-colon , why do you want to know this anyway ? ... I only use semicolons when i write programmes;
then they are at the end of a statement; in natural language i dont use ;

The comma is a transitional form and a semi-colon is fully evolved.
The colon is a scientific fraud and never really existed.

A comma is superior to the semi-colon due to its vicious nature.

comma - divides clauses in a sentence
I ran to the store, and drove to the bank.
a main clause is a part of a sentence that can stand alone.
I ran to the store.
commas also separate items on a list
I cleaned, cooked, did laundry.
semi-colon - mean 'and'
I am hot; sexy. :-)

the comma is a semi breather , a little pause, see
we all need these in life , so to use them in language is a must
that rascal the semi- colon can be quite confusing , it makes things a little more blunt , a little more effective than both the comma and the full stop
it is somewhere in between them
clever little chappy
