Perhaps you think that Christianity is just a way Christians have of feeling good. If so, then you would rightly wonder why they would not give up one set of good feelings (faith in God) in order to avoid another set of bad feelings (fear of death).

But it is the atheist who lives by feelings. What would you die for? Love (of child; of spouse; of country, etc.)? But isn't love just a feeling? So why not trade one set of good feelings (love) in order to avoid another set of bad feelings (fear of death)?

I don't understand why people can't come to grips with the idea that NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO REACH THE SAME CONCLUSION YOU DO ABOUT GOD. Whether it's because of how they were raised, or maybe they had bad experiences with having religion shoved down their throat, the point is, not everyone believes the same thing. And yes, there are people who are perfectly happy and fulfilled without any sort of religion in their lives at all. The fact that you think no one can be satisfied without following the path that you did just shows that you are nothing more than a publicity puppet.

FYI - I'm not directing this ire at the asker of this question, but rather the people who fit the mold of the asker of the question in the link.

It didn't surprise me at all.
And if they like their beliefs that much, more power to them. They're dedicated, albeit a little crazy.
I can understand, I'd die for some things. Not for religion... But yeah.

Sorry, but your question was rather silly.

These people believe that after they die they are rewarded with an eternal life in heaven.

If I truly believed in that nonsense, I also wouldn't give it up for anything else.

Scary. How much further do they have to go before they're prepared to die to prevent others becoming atheists, and thence to killing to stop atheists.

No, we shouldn't trust people who believe in imaginary beings. That's the first warning sign.
