I maintain that any knowledge gained within the sphere of science is completely dependent of God's bestowal of light on the mind. There is no such thing as autonomous reason, i.e., reason that is unaided by divine revelation.
Science and theology (my realm of inquiry) are in perfect agreement because all truth is God's truth. Science and theology both presuppose God's divine revelation.
If a theory is false in science, then it must be false in theology as well (and vice versa). Wherever truth is found, the truth of God is being discovered.

I must admit I always heave a heavy sigh when I see questions like yours. :)
You asked if Christians hate Steven Hawking, backpaddle and admit that not all Christians are nut cases, and then state "I'm talking only about the nutcases who get into all this creationsism garbage and believe the Earth is 6000 years old".
So I'm a "nutcase" according to you. But guess what? I don't hate Stephen Hawking.... I don't hate anyone. Why would I? Hate doesn't make sense for my fellow man. It serves no purpose other than to generate more hate. Why would I want that?
Further to the issue:
You've received over 17 answers to this question, 4 of which blatently acknowledge your "Christians are hateful and ignorant" claim... what does that say for everyone concerned?
blessings :)

You don't know what the heck your talking about. Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicist but the discovery or hypothesis of black holes was around before he graduated from high school. I have no idea what you mean by "supposted" the theory of Evolution but he agrees with the findings of science which has found the steady state universe theory neccessary for Evolution an impossibility and does not argue against the fact of a universe with a beginning which is what the big bang theory is about and is not antithetical to the account of creation in Genesis. There are alot of Scientists out there that just so happen to be Christians also. You need to get your head out of the sand and do your homework before you pretend to know something about where science is at today you bumbling imbecile. And by the way it was God that created black hole physics it was merely noticed by physicists. God also gave you a brain...try to utilize more productively eh?

If they ain't for us then they are against us ! Science is not evil, dude the Bible talks about evolution when God told Jacob to mix his live stock a certain way.
Gen 30:40 And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle. Gen 30:41 And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.
Gen 30:42 But when the cattle were feeble, he put [them] not in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.
Stephen Hawking is the Devil in the flesh, because he says that there is no God !! Isa 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, which means it always has existed...Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Shows that there was a time that God did create the universe, and that shows that the universe was not eternal, so the big bang theory agrees with the Bible...
Are you sure they didn't mean,The most pre-eminent New Atheist's best-selling author Richard Dawkins?

The Big Bang?
That was when God spoke, and it happened!!
E=mc^2 is still valid. If I make 'm' the subject of the formula, I get m= E/c^2. The Big Bang proved that the universe has a beginning. Read Gen 1:1 - In the beginning....
Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicists/mathematician. Albert Einstein? He just ushered in the nuclear age. Any comparsion?

Dear sincere but sincerely wrong friend,
The Bible clearly teaches - no, that is not the right word - the Bible clearly assumes a creationist perspective. Although there is room for disagreement about the actual age of the earth (not much room, but I will agree that there is a little), the Bible clearly clearly states that Adam and Eve were
created by God as fully human in a moment of time, that the garden of Eden "event" happened in actual history, that there was a "fall", that Adam - the first man - was created about 6,000 years ago, etc.
someone can say they are a Christian all they want but if you discount the story of creation, if you don't believe in a literal Adam & Eve, etc, you trash the biblical doctrines of sin, salvation, redemption, and restoration.
So eliminate Adam & Eve and you might as well rip up the bible and therefore, you have nothing on which to base your Christianity. See?
So.... in my humble opinion, there ain't no other kind of Christian except the ones who believe in "creationism"!!
and we aren't all nuts - some of us, not all of us - and we don't think Stephen Hawking is the Devil. Just a little disturbed, that's all.
god bless

The Big Bang and Evolution theories are not contrary to Christianity. I personally am Catholic and believe in both. Even to those who don't believe in those theories, I don't see how they can hate him as a person, just that they disagree with his ideas.

Nonsense. I respect and admire the man. And I see no problem with his physics. Evolution and the Big Bang were both CAUSED by God. Even Steve admits that he cannot fathom what actually triggered it. He has more humility than many on these boards!

Those believers who hate Hawking hate him for the same reason they hate Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennett, Harris and anyone else who debunks their superstition.

Genuine Christians don't 'hate' anyone...
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35
I am a Christian, but I like people, scientists - they have contributed much to this world... I may not agree with everything someone else believes, but I don't hate them!!
