Who painted the Mona Lisa? My mom said Da Vinci did, but where is the evidence? Books? Can Anyone today actually prove that Da Vinci existed? Without consulting books? Hmmm?

A typical fools way of thinking " I saw one Christian on television whom I think believe's this way so all Christians must think this way"
Guess you don't care if you are educated, just as long as you think you sound clever and all of the other fools are cheering you on and bowing down to your pseudobrilliance, because you know there is no better way to sound like oyu know just what you are talking about than to stereotype and make ignorant uneducaed statements

I think Christians convince THEMSELVES of the existence of god as a psychological defense mechanism against fear, grief, and so on.
Your atheist analogy is more or less correct, except we don't just exist to deny. We are also searching for the facts.
(Starjumper - it's a lot easier to accept the written claims that a mortal man named DaVinci existed (who coincidentally left copious notes, inventions and works of art for us to study), than the claims presented in a many-times-mistranslated book by fans of a man who claimed to be a supernatural deity. The first falls well within the realm of what we know to be logical, rational and possible. The second is ridiculous fantasy.)

This Christian thinks-Who made the world? My mom said to look in the Bible and it says that God did. I see evidence of his hand all around and I have chosen for myself to believe.
John 20:29
blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Atheism can be summed up in four words:
"I don't buy it."
Or to put it in a few more words:
"Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence. Yet here is the most extraordinary claim of all, and there's NO evidence? I'll pass (on believing it to be true)."

Why would anyone ask who made the world? The world just is, and was formed by natural/physical process that science has pretty well explained. It doesn't require anyone to have "made" it.

I'm atheist, and so is my mom. Trust me, she would beat you up for even assuming she would have said something like that.
