RETICULAR activating system ..... it's a part of ur midbrain ..... which is the middle part of ur brain and deep inside

The Ego.

When the ego (I) is active (thinking) a person cannot sleep. When a person learns to relax and stop thinking they usually begin to drift off into sleep.

As to the physical location of the Ego in the brain, a neurology might have a better reply.

well believe it or not when you go to sleep and dream the same part comes out and plays when you smoke marijuana no joke except your not asleep so id say subconsciousness
