find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I think you will have to train yourself to eat right and exercise. I know its gonna be hard cuz i struggled with getting it off and keeping it off. I had this problem about 2yrs ago . Then I ran across an excellent program that help me lose a great amount of weight (I had to pay for it but it was worth it). I now am a health advisor and coaches other into the healthy stages of life. It's really easy to lose weight without spending money. First, don't eat too much foods included meats, oil(examples: hamburgers, taco, French fries, and more), but eat vegetables more. Second, exercise as much as you can. Third, don't sleep too much. Forth, eat less than three time a day. Fifth, don't eat snacks. Sixth, don't drink beers, or wines( those was the reasons that makes you have cholesterol and makes you having a big stomach.)Seventh, find some good diet medicines.

By consuming negative calories ingredients and doing exercise and keeping your discipline.

About the -calories foods:
The whole process can take more than 10 hours to complete and our body needs energy to do it. Several foods contains so little energy that our body will need more energy to digest it through the long process and absorbs the nutrients. So by eating these type of foods, we hope the calories intake vs outtake balance will be negative.

Onions and Garlics
Cucumber
Tomato
Cabbage
Celery
Lettuce

Make those into a salad with low fat yoghurt as dressing. Consume the salad for dinner strictly. You can add 1 leaf of whole grain bread to your meals in a day.

doctors will recommend losing 1-2 lbs weekly, so in 4 months that would put you at 16-32 lbs, which isn't quite 40 but if you do it right you'll notice a huge difference even with a seemingly small amount of weight lost.
use http://www.sparkpeople.com.. it's helped me lose 50+ lbs since the summer and it's totally free :)

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

well depending on your height. if you are over 5'5" you only need to lose at most 10-15 lb. no more or you will be sickly and unhealthy looking. if you are under 5'5" 25lb. less would be about right. =]] go to a kickboxing class or do some yoga. both help lose weight fast.

The answer is not "don't eat"

The answer is eat HEALTHY and excercise 3-5 times a week. You don't have to run a marathon, but do some walking, go to the gym, play basketball, tennis, whatever you have to do. And again... eat healthy.
